FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The Fort Wayne Police Department released footage Tuesday afternoon of last week’s fight at Tim Hortons that preceded the death of a 75-year-old woman.
The footage from the events of May 13, posted on the department’s YouTube page, can be viewed in the video above.
Although the Allen County Coroner’s Office previously said it would not disclose details, a report released Tuesday coinciding with the FWPD’s statement officially identified her as Anita Ann Grayson, a 75-year-old Fort Wayne woman. The report said her cause and manner of death were both still pending, but the autopsy findings noted “no significant contributory injuries,” according to the release. The situation was described by the coroner’s office as a “verbal and physical altercation” that the woman was involved in shortly before her death.
The FWPD said last week that officers responded to “an altercation involving a reported battery” at the coffee shop Wednesday morning. The department said the decision to release footage stemmed from “a dangerously false narrative” and the initial video clip of the altercation that had been circulating social media.
“FWPD initially released limited information about this case out of respect for Ms. Grayson’s family and in an effort to avoid causing additional distress following the tragic loss of a loved one,” the press release noted. “However, a dangerously false narrative, along with poor-quality video circulating publicly, has led to significant public concern and misinformation. For that reason, and because it is in the public interest, FWPD is releasing the facts of the case along with a clear and complete video of the events that occurred inside Tim Hortons.”
Grayson’s family has been vocal on social media with split viewpoints on the beating; some claim the FWPD’s footage has been altered to tell a different story.

Congestive heart disease plus some degree of dementia could be why she allowed a minor mishap to mushroom into an indoor Street Fight with Food Workers. Bottom line, all the events were of her own making. When my late father was being treated for congestive heart failure, and he was 83 yr old, the family was stunned when the Nurse called to tell us my Dad needed to be put in restraints because he was biting his nurse and doctor. So very much unlike him in younger years. Less than 2 weeks later, he had passed away. There is something about that diagnosis that can dramatically change behavior in the elderly.
I watched the entire video that was presented. What in the world could possibly propel a 75 YEAR OLD overweight female to get SO upset over a drive through or pick up order at a donut shop? LET ALONE GET VIOLENT over a freaking donut or coffee? I’m trying to be respectful as I’m only 10 years away from that myself....but watch how she escalates it and never uses her age (possible wisdom?) to address it via phone with corporate or an E-mail? Well she’s worm food now I guess.
blacks having altercations with fast food joint employees has been a trend for a while now.
Usually it’s younger blacks that have little to no impulse control and completely overreact for some minor reason like they didn’t get enough dipping sauce or some other childish reason.
And occasionally it comes to someone getting shot.
This one is certainly different because of her age but having said all that, she definitely appears to be the aggressor and initiated the whole confrontation.
Of course the daughter is attempting to say she was the victim.

Or she had an entitlement mentality and she didn’t get her way and decided to act out.
After working around them for decades I’m well aware that black females with an attitude is about as natural as peanut butter and jelly.

Come on, the employee pushed her first, then the old lady out and out punched the employee in the chops, but you don’t come out whaling on an old lady and knock her down. Employee is going to jail.
Agree, the employee put hands on the old lady initially. This is what escalated the situation. Stay behind the counter, yell all you want, but you put hands on, you started it.
Not saying that’s what caused the old lady’s demise, but that’s what started the physical fight.

Yea but we don’t know what verbal threats she made to the kid before she was pushed away. You know all of them will testify that she was saying she was going to “kick his ass” or something like that and that the kids boss was just trying to protect him as she should. Notice also the old lady punched the woman. Why all this violence over a coffee and donut? Just call the main boss or corporate. She’d still be alive today.

I agree with you, no need for this confrontation over a donut. It seems society has become more unhinged, as time goes on. Some “cultures” seem to display examples of this more than others, it seems.
