SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Sarasota, Florida, woman has been sentenced to over a year in federal prison after being found guilty of making threats against MAGA supporters on social media, the Department of Justice said on Monday.

Desiree Segari, 41, was indicted in September 2025 after posting a TikTok the month prior, calling for supporters of President Donald Trump’s agenda to be “shot on sight,” according to evidence presented at trial.

She was found guilty of interstate communication of a threat to injure on Jan. 13, 2026.

The DOJ quoted Segari’s video, “MAGA people deserve to be terrified and scared to walk in the streets because they should know that real Americans are gonna [mouths expletive] kill them.”

She also mimicked firing a gun with hand gestures during the video and captioned the post “#seemagapewpewmaga starting a new trend, hope it catches on. Please spread the word. Share this video. Repost it. Use the hashtag all over the internet. Let’s go guys. It’s time to fight back in a potentially effective manner.”

Segari posted another video the next day, the DOJ said.

“See MAGA pew pew MAGA, see MAGA pew pew MAGA, see MAGA pew pew MAGA so these [expletive] know we ain’t here to play,” she said while again mimicking firing a gun.

The charge carried a maximum penalty of five years in prison. Segari was sentenced to 14 months.

She was convicted of a federal crime.
No parole there.

Interestingly, of the many articles about her, the only efforts I see to give information about her are from MSN and India Times. Essentially nothing. No history of public political involvement. She’s just one of millions who stew in the left wing bubble and are driven loopy by it

What evidence was there that she actually intended violence and wasn’t just spouting off in anger on the internet? Does anyone realistically think she planned on carrying any of this out? Are we now going to put people in prison for saying angry words on the internet? They are going way to far with this. How is this much different than the UK prosecuting people for saying politically incorrect things? If this is the direction the Republican party is going then I will be voting Libertarian from this point on out.

"I wish XXXX would get shot." Protected speech.

"Shoot XXXX on sight." Violent threat.

An insult is protected free speech, as it should be.
As is a comment that can be taken different ways.
Example: “The country would be better off without Trump.”

But this woman made a direct and unambiguous call to violence.
That crossed the line, hugely. She got what she deserved.

I believe in the literal pronunciation of the English language. She needed to be INDICTED. That’s probably what’s been missing all along.

What is she so mad about? Clamping down of fraud? Deporting illegals? Exposing corruption? I really don’t understand why they are so mad.

No this should only be prosecutable if her threats were directed at a specific person. So the next time some freeper goes off and says “I want to kill every single libtard I come across” and gets carted off to jail you’ll consider that justified too?

She doesn't need to intend violence. She used words that she knew or should have known could incite violence by others. Her intent is irrelevant.

Democrats mouthing death threats and threats of violence go first. The Libertarians come next.

Well, yes, that is cause concern as well. You should certainly see the difference between that and what she did, however. In your example above, he's not inciting anyone to do anything.

Here's subsection (c) of federal statute 18 U.S. Code, Section 875, the statute she was convicted under: "Whoever transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication containing any threat to kidnap any person or any threat to injure the person of another (emphasis mine), shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both." She was clearly in violation.

Don’t you know? Because the orange man is an evil nazi and a racist. The opinion leaders and media personalities of the Left told her so. She’s not able to think critically and recognize their manipulations. So she acts as they want her to act. They hope she will not limit herself to justs words.
