Michael continues to soar at the box office.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the music biopic charts the meteoric rise of pop star Michael Jackson, with Jaafar Jackson taking on the titular role. Michael has been a big hit at the box office since its release on April 24, bringing in an opening weekend of $97.2 million domestically and over $217 million worldwide.
Per Deadline, Michael passed $600 million worldwide at the box office this past Tuesday, with a global total now standing at over $604 million. This total comprises $353.8 million internationally and $250 million from North America. The film is projected to gross more than $20 million in its upcoming third weekend in theaters
Though Michael reviews have been mostly negative from critics due to its more surface-level exploration of the music icon, the film is succeeding in a big way with general audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes, for example, the movie has only a 39% critics' score, but the audience-driven Popcornmeter is glowing at 97%.

Janet really got treated horribly after that Super Bowl incident that was not her fault.
Quite frankly, I don’t know if it would be very watchable on a smaller screen.
It’s more like a stadium experience in parts
In my college music classes, I used to compare Mozart and Jacko in one way, though there are others (abusive father, precocious talent, odd personality). Mozart leaves the music scene at 35, and people always lament what he could have done if he’d lived another 35 years, like Papa Haydn. Then I would point to MJ’s life, how at the same age that Mozart died, he was at the height of his career, and everything (other than the vitiligo) that brought him down started that year, 1993. Imagine how people would see Jackson if he had, like Mozart, died at 35 and was remembered for all of his successes and not everything afterward.

Thanks for the heads up!
And luckystarmom, is your screenname a homage to Madonna’s song ‘Lucky Star’ by any chance? ⭐️🎤
Both Madonna and Michael currently have songs on the Billboard this weekcharts by the way. The nostalgia is real!
Totally agree!
Pedos are monsters.
Whether they are overt like Michael or they are latent like the autopen guy who showered with his minor daughter.
I got no more desire to see a biopic about Jackson than I do Biden.
But some are more forgiving or should I say too forgiving which allows the pedos to continue racking up victims.
Unnecessary to call those folk out as most folk know who I’m talking about.
Not at all. Our kids middle names are after stars.
I feel sorry for Michael Jackson the kid. He was cute and talented
I’m curious how he got so demented.
I used to compare Mozart and Jacko in one way,
Jacko owed his success to Quicy Jones, Jones was the “Mozart”.
s/b Quincy Jones
oh okay! even more meaningful. ✨
Oh well, no doubt she meant well lol. It’s too bad you didn’t get a payout but at least you can enjoy the positive response in the comments section.
For some reason the YouTube algorithm just gifted me with this:

Michael Jackson’s drummer on Can’t Get Enough covering his own track 40 something years later and nailing it.
It was David Bowie who forced MTV to start playing more black artists.
Interwebs: You win! Lol
When the critics' score is low but the audience score is high, this tells me that the film has "problematic" issues that the critics were afraid to praise.
Yeah… MTV was so racist that the killed rock & roll by going “Yo MTV Raps”. 🙄 what a pantload. MTV was always all in on urban culture.
Not until around 1983. For the first few years it was pretty much all-white.
2 years out of 45 ...
