Natalie Decker parked her truck during Friday's race at Dover after just 81 laps after NASCAR black-flagged her for being too slow.
That, of course, isn't the whole story. Not even close.
Decker essentially rage-quit during the race, suffering one of the most stunning in-car meltdowns I have ever heard. And folks, I've heard A LOT over the radio in all my years covering NASCAR. Frankly, until yesterday, I thought I'd heard it all.
You guys, I'm trying to hold my s--- together, but I don't want to keep doing this," a crying Decker begins after being told to come down pit road for a pass-through penalty.
"There’s just so many s----- things that I could say right now, and I’m just trying to keep it together, about the f---ing director of the series."
"Let's remember what's on our truck, and just bring it to the garage, right?" said team owner Josh Reaume, referring, clearly, to the sponsors.
"I feel like a f---ing failure if I do that," she responded. "There’s so many things I want to say and I’m probably going to get f---ing suspended, you have no idea."
"I’m sorry Josh, I’m not going to come back to the Truck Series," she continued. "I’m staying in the O’Reilly Series, this series f---ing sucks. The amount of hate I’m going to get online for this is just going to be insane. I’m not ready."

I have had plenty of women draft me on highways and the freeway.
They never looked like they were crying.
I guess she doesn't have to win, she just has to start.

I worked in the pits for Elmo Langley back in the early ‘70”s...
NASCAR ain’t NASCAR any more.....
That’s what you get for being “stylish”.
Embarrassing.
Yep, happily texting on their phones while breezing by.
I wonder if this NASCAR gal was trying to cry her way out of a ticket. Some can do that. Being a guy, I can’t.
Not saying there shouldn’t be woman racers. Brittany Force holds the record in top fuel drag racing. But she only has to keep her mouth shut for about three seconds.
i remember going to the winston cup
and getting my free carton of winstons
those were the days

There were always women in the various levels of racing they just didn’t filter up high in most cases, then would come along a Force or Muldowney. Nobody says DEI there. Hot Rod magazine ran a WomanOf Racing feature back in the nineties and there were quite a few women giving it a go back in the sixties.
Well, maybe if it was the right trooper.
She should’ve just manned up and pulled over, before the first immature, expletive laced whine.
If only Smokey Yunick was still around to offer an opinion. That would be a hoot!
And racing
In my racing field we had two female drivers.
They never won a race, but continued to get sponsorships. They a had a big crew, now money than anyone else and we’re twice as famous for just participating even over the winners.
Many men quit. Winning races no longer meant anything.
Those women still raced after 20 years. They suck but they are more successful.
Ditto...
She couldn’t find anybody to tailgate.
All it really takes to be a racecar driver is ‘balls’... Oops!
Seriously I dont think anyone, guy or gal, should be put somewhere like this where they and others could be really hurt or killed, when they arent ready. It sounds pretty clear she wasn’t ready and others in the racing business around her knew it but did it anyways. Its out of concern for her, and other drivers, you just dont do it. Its not worth people stupidly dying for.
