Books like Susan Neiman’s Learning from the Germans: Race and the Memory of Evil ...have praised German society as a model for confronting historical evil.

If German politicians cannot be trusted to preserve and honor the memory of the Holocaust with integrity—if they insist on weaponizing it for their political agendas—then they should keep silent on such matters. Due possibly in some part the Germans historical infatuation with Muslims which goes back to the days of the Ottomans versus the British, and the Germans sided with the Ottomans, probably mostly just to be in opposition to the British.

For the Left in Germany and throughout Europe, Holocaust guilt was and is a potent way to smear the Right and impede them from gaining political power. Over time, as the smear wore thin, it discredited Holocaust guilt and generated hostility and doubt about the facts.

Wake me up when the Democrat party, the American Left, and Freepers who sympathize and wholly agree with this point of view (so much that they feel compelled to start a thread on it) wake up and achieve an "honest reckoning with its racist past" by admitting that the Democrat Party is the Party of Racism.

And that isn’t any defense of the Neo-Nazis in Germany that they want to link to conservatism in the United States who “can’t face their past”.
It is their European attempt to paint the Southern United States in that fashion, comparing them to their homegrown German “right wingers”.
and contrary to the usual Leftist dogma, race relations are actually better in the South than they are in the North. There is less segregation and people get along better.

Never again includes the Israelis. They have moved from legitimate self defense into ethnic cleansing, and genocide is openly pushed by the Israeli Likud people.

She just holds the present German state as a role model in dealing with the past…for all the wrong reasons, in my opinion.
By the way, her book was published in 2019. Thus, it’s not really new.
Maybe the author doesn’t know about this fact, because she might never have lived there.
Still, prejudice towards the American South are sometimes found even here on FR, regrettably.
It’s the same with Germany, though: some people on FR still believe in Shirer‘s Rise and Fall, though this book is clearly a load of scrambled bull manure. Or maybe it’s propaganda, and Shirer wrote it to get something off his chest; which is de facto the same thing…
Gentlemen,
please do consider the following two facts: the alliance of Germany and the Ottoman Empire was a historical anomaly, for the latter had been considered the „hereditary enemy“ of Germany for centuries before, from the late 15th well into the 18th century.
It was not until the end of the 19th that, when Britain and France became interested in the Arab territories of the Ottoman Empire, that the latter reached an agreement with Berlin (Baghdad railway etc.) which led to the German-Ottoman alliance in WW one.
And another matter: it’s not we who want to die, but rather it’s the leftists and the invaders in our midst who want us to die.
They believe that, by getting rid of us, they can atone for Nazism.
Sounds strange, yes? But this is the way commies „think“. To them, human life has no value, except for their own, inferior and deplorable as it is. This really is the Dunning- Kruger effect on fine display!😡
