Memorial Drive in Cambridge is closed amid a large emergency incident involving a reported shooting outside an apartment building near the River Street Bridge.
A 911 call received at approximately 1:30 p.m. reported the gunshots, according to Cambridge spokesperson Jeremy Warnick.
"There remains an active scene, however, there is no ongoing danger to the public. Units are on-scene along with the State Police," Warnick said.
Massachusetts State Police confirmed that at least one person was treated for a gunshot wound. Flying overhead, Sky5 saw two people being loaded into waiting ambulances by paramedics.
A rifle was seen on the grass between the road and the bike path, which runs beside the Charles River.
Video from witness Youssef Adel showed the moment when it appeared that officers took down the suspect.
The suspect was taken to a Boston hospital where he is being treated for gunshot wounds.

While authorities have not yet officially confirmed his identity, a source confirmed the shooter’s name and identity with 25 Investigates. Boston 25 also obtained court records for a man with the same name and birthdate with a violent history of targeting law enforcement.
Brown’s record spans nearly two decades, including prior firearm and drug convictions.”
