Ok you’ve reminded me my brother worked at a factory with hydraulic presses. A coworker removed the safety harness that is supposed to pull you back before the press comes down. His hand was under the press and was flattened like a large pancake. My brother claimed they used a scissor and cut the pancake free from the guy’s arm.
That was in 1960’s America, not the third world.
The company I worked for manufactured large metal working presses, mechanical & hydraulic. In spite of all the safety devices built into the machines, operators would bypass the safety devices, get injured, and counted on a sympathetic jury to receive a huge amount
My Dad’s cousin lost both of his thumbs when the press he was operating cycled before he could get his hands out of the way. Palm buttons weren’t mandatory back then. That was back in the mid-70’s. He was in his mid-20’s when it happened.
