Kyle Rittenhouse, who gained fame for opening fire at a 2020 civil rights rally in Wisconsin, was hospitalized after a venomous spider bit him, the noted firearms enthusiast said Wednesday.
Rittenhouse, 23, told his 100,000 followers on X that he fell victim to a brown recluse, posting pictures of himself in a hospital bed strapped to monitors with one close-up shot of the bite mark.
“The spider, like the commies, also thought it was a good idea to come after me while I was armed,” Rittenhouse posted. “He did not survive.”
Rittenhouse appeared to be in good spirits, joking that his only disappointment was that “I’m not Spider-Man now.”

I’ve been bitten by a brown recluse twice. If I recall, I was treated by an antibiotic one time. The other time I didn’t require treatment. I had a home health patient once, who had been bitten under,her arm. It swelled up very large, so when she went to the ER for something else, she asked the doctor if he would lance it. He obliged her. She ended up up on a ventilator and nearly died. Lancing it spread the toxin throughout her body. (This happened before she was a home health patient. Not on my watch).
I’m surprised that NBC didn’t say it was racist for Kyle to kill “a brown recluse”.
That's a seriously nasty spider bite.
They are nasty beasts. My sister got out of her car one night and walked under the tree near the driveway. She felt something very light brush her face —must have been a spider’s web? Anyway, she was bitten on her forehead by a brown recluse. She tried to ignore it but the skin became necrotic. It ended up a plastic surgeon had to cut a silver dollar-sized hole in her forehead to remove the bad flesh and do a skin graft from her underarm. Still bears the scars.
