Germans are known for their lighthearted sense of humor.
I've heard about/read about welfare rats in this (USA) country laughing about how we (hard working taxpayers) actually work for them (welfare rats).
It's beyond ingratitude, it's crass, vulgar, and obnoxious.
Might make a persuasive political commercial, however.

As to those who would comment about German humor, the old joke is that the shortest book in the German library is the "Collected Jokes of Germany."
As the social welfare states of Western Europe teeter. this will become no joke.
The Nazis executed people for telling jokes.
The most infamous case was a priest who told this one:
A dying German soldier asked the nurse to see people for whom he was laying down his life. The nurse laid a portrait of Hitler and Göring next to him. The soldier said “Now I can die like Jesus Christ.”
Another one executed, was an armaments worker, who told this joke:
Hitler and Göring are standing atop the Berlin radio tower. Hitler says he wants to do something to put a smile on Berliners’ faces. So Göring says: “Why don’t you jump?”
