Only by recognizing that SARS-CoV-2 and its derivatives are running a misplaced bat reproductive hibernation maintenance program, complete with amyloid plugs, torpor metabolism, immune tolerance, and persistent IFN-gamma orchestration, can we develop mitigation strategies and treatments that actually match the underlying pathology instead of fighting the wrong battle. Fascinating stuff. How does this fit in with the fact that some people were largely unaffected, or had mild cases, even at the beginning when the virus was at its most virulent?

And, how has this sequence been changed in the milder strains that subsequently appeared?

And what were all of these components doing in the virus, when their functionality is only of use to the bat?
