What does it look like today?
Today, May 5, 2026, Central and Southern Indiana will experience a chilly and soggy day with persistent rain and potential storms, bringing risks of heavy downpours and localized flooding. Highs will stay cool, in the mid-50s°F, with North winds around 8-10 mph. Rain will continue, tapering off early Wednesday morning
Ohio will experience a mild day with temperatures reaching the low 70s, transitioning to a rainy evening. Early scattered showers are possible before a steady, heavy rain returns tonight. A 100% chance of precipitation is expected in some areas by Tuesday night, with temperatures dropping to the high 40s to low 50s
I will be lucky if it reaches 37F where I am.
However, is it a positive or negative political outlook for Republicans.
I would think it’s the independents who are the fair weather voters.
Republicans, celebrate Cinco de Mayonnaise AFTER VOTING. Democrats, please celebrate before voting...maybe they will vote for the most INSANE KOOKS running...🤣
I live in Lake County Indiana and will be voting today along with 3 other family members. It will be a strict R vote across the board. I don’t know if Lake County can ever turn red but I’m trying my best!
I’ll be voting on the way home from work in Ohio - I know Ramaswamy is a heavy favorite for gov but will be voting for Putsch. I just can’t stomach Vivek’s visa stand.
Also voting against my house incumbant Joyce and instead for Niki Frenchko. Joyce is such a Rino it boils my blood sometimes.
Ohio Sec state and Treasury are also interesting matchups on the Repub side.
Vivek as ZERO to do with visas. That's a federal issue.
I don’t understand how a RINO like Joyce keeps getting reelected in such a Republican dominated district.
And some smaller primaries for local offices in TN.
I assume this will be FR’s official election results thread for OH and IN primaries. For Freepers in those states, update us on anything interesting you noticed while voting.
As to any results, post ‘em if you got ‘em.
Trump-endorsed Blake Fiechter wins the Republican primary for Indiana state Senate District 19, NBC News projects. He defeats incumbent state Sen. Travis Holdman, a member of party leadership.
RINO Travis Holdman defeated already
Former Sen. Sherrod Brown has won the Democratic Senate primary in Ohio, NBC News projects, setting up a key general election matchup this fall against Republican Sen. Jon Husted.
RINO Travis Holdman defeated already
Media is playing up the Trump endorsed versus Pence endorsed candidates angle. It was good to see Holdman defeated. Score for Trump!
Vivek Ramaswamy wins the Republican primary for Ohio governor, NBC News projects Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy has won the Republican primary for Ohio governor, NBC News projects. He will face Amy Acton, a former state health director, who won the Democratic nomination without opposition, in the general election.
This from NBC News.
“While former Vice President Mike Pence stayed silent during December’s redistricting battle in Indiana, he openly broke with Trump this spring in his home county’s Senate primary.
Pence endorsed state Sen. Jim Buck last month, throwing his support behind a veteran lawmaker the president is seeking to oust.
“I have known State Senator Jim Buck throughout my years serving Indiana from the State House to the White House and I have always seen him as a man of integrity and one of Indiana’s most conservative state legislators,” Pence said in a statement last month, the Indianapolis Star reported.
Buck is facing Trump-endorsed Tracey Powell, a Tipton County commissioner.”
Right now Trump-endorsed Powell is leading with 38% of the votes in. He has 65% against Buck’s 37%.
Dan Dernulc also losing.
Incumbent Greg Goode wins the Republican primary for Indiana state Senate District 38, NBC News projects, defeating a Trump-backed challenger.
