When I drove Scout 22_back in the old First District, the 14th Street bridges were in my territory. They were boring.
Nobody ever tried to jump from one.
The first May Day demonstration was in 71 or 72, iirc.
It was a blast. Mostly just kids playing hookey. They were practically begging to be arrested. Street cred was a thing back then even though the kids were all from Virginia or Maryland.
I got seven of those dangerous criminals in my cage car at one time. Another had ten, or so I heard.
I was about twenty-five years old then and remember it like was yesterday.
