They told you it was a Billionaire Tax.
5%. One time. Only 200 people. Nothing to do with you. I went to page 26.
One paragraph buried in 34 pages of fine print gives Sacramento the power to convert this into a tax on EVERYONE — your house, your 401k, your savings, your retirement — without asking you again. Ever. No ballot measure. No special election. No vote required.
This is the same trick they pulled with AB 130. Newsom looked straight into the camera and told reporter Ashley Zavala he would NEVER sign a mileage tax. It was already on page 137. Already signed. Already law. $324,000 added to the cost of every new home in California while you were reading the headline.
Same people. Same Sacramento. Same dirty trick. New target.

You can't be serious....
Somewhere in there is an exit tax......probably retroactive
“ Somewhere in there is an exit tax......probably retroactive”
I am one million percent for it!! They make the mess then move to the good states to Californicate them. Let them be reminded of why they left with a nice healthy retroactive “remember us” message.
Electing democrats is always an example of ignorance, stupidity, and/or blind obedience. The results of democratic policies is disaster everywhere they control the levers of government. One would think that by now voters would see the dems are primarily focused on enriching themselves with other peoples’ money, and don’t give a rat’s ass about doing positive things for the people they supposedly represent. How often does one see them doing anything with a positive outcome for anyone but themselves?

Sec. 4. Section 37 is added to Article XIII of the California Constitution, to read:
Sec. 37.
(a) This Section authorizes and enables a one-time tax on the accumulated wealth of California billionaires, imposed on those individuals who are California residents within the meaning of Sections 17014 and 17015.5 of the Revenue and Taxation Code as of the tax obligation date as defined in the 2026 Billionaire Tax Act.

50310. Legislative Authority.
The Legislature may amend the 2026 Billionaire Tax Act, by statute passed in each house of the Legislature by rollcall vote entered in the journal, two-thirds of the membership concurring, if the statute is consistent with and furthers the purposes of the 2026 Billionaire Tax Act.

The left has NGOs that they need to fund for fraud to continue.
The reprehensible lying pile of dog poop Governor of Maryland and the scum they call the state Assembly did just that last year. Along with equally pathetic county tax thieves, you may have to pay up to 1.5% of the sale price just to get out.
I’m planning to leave this craphole state in the next two years, if not sooner. I’d love to pay these vermin with a wheelbarrow full of nickels.
Let me tell you how sneaky these guys are...
..so I walk out of Walmart and there’s this guy with a bunch of petitions to sign to get things on the ballot
The first few were conservative ( sounding, though now I wonder what was buried in them )
and then this billionaire tax petition
Then a bunch more conservative SOUNDING ones.
No, I didn’t sign the billionaire tax one ,,,cuz it’s dumb, no poor man ever gave a job to anyone ever.
But looking back, this guy buried this commie petition in the middle of the right wing sounding ones,,,would a real conservative do that ?
Hell no.
But I bet a bunch of people didn’t even notice .
Sneaky bastages
Well, really can’t just kill them & that would be wrong morally anyway. You can outdo them when they are wrong which is a good portion of the time. Don’t know what the anser is except to harshly, brutally prosecute them when they do something really wrong. Why isn’t it done? Apparently because they have enough votes to show that wrong is (supposedly) right

It will pass. Envy and resentment is a siren call. Seductive. It’s hard to feel sorry for the rich as they vote and give their money to the democrats. You would think they might give more like the robber barons a hundred years ago. Those libraries all over the place seemed to have the same design. Andrew Carnegie I think. Don’t know but it mighta been guilt that made them give away so much upon their deaths.
The 16th amendment was also originally sold as tax on rich. Only the top 2% will pay taxes, just small contribution by the very rich!
Then, once they got the foot in the door, it snowballed to like mere-less everybody must pay, and to the 70% bracket!
Nothing infuriates the democrats more then you keeping your money.
We have loopholes comrades
Indeed - people say that ‘retroactive’ like it’s a bad thing...
(of course it’s outrageous, but the fleas need to stay on the dog they fed on...)
When they need more “revenue”, they have the county assessors office hyper-inflate the “assessed value” of each home and money magically appears. It like manna from heaven.
I look forward to the hopefully very near future when the unfortunate populations of red states realize that there is a “Mussolini Solution” to their problems. Video it as a ‘historical document’.
The idea floated is a massive tax that is imposed but for which you get a deduction by remaining in the state.
Most typically on a home but also wealth in general.
Note: the “wealth” tax imposed in NC back in the day was declared unconstitutional.
It can be worked around.
