GASTON, S.C. — Several agencies assisted in shutting down a large event in Lexington County on Saturday night after several people were trampled by horses, and members of a large crowd reportedly threw beer cans at first responders.
Gaston Police Chief Stephen Watkins said police received reports of an emergency call around 8:30 p.m. Saturday to 491 S. Main St., where there were reports of people injured by horses at a rodeo event.
Officers arrived at the scene with Lexington County Emergency Services and the Lexington County Fire Service, where they found several people had been trampled by stampeding horses that were reportedly spooked by fireworks.
As emergency crews began attending to patients, Watkins said, a large crowd "became agitated" and threw beer cans at them. Watkins said at least six people were taken from the scene for treatment.
As police shut down the event, Watkins said, officers encountered people who were resisting arrest and others who were again throwing beer cans and other objects at officers.
The department called in assistance from police in Cayce, Springdale and Pine Ridge, as well as deputies from the Lexington County Sheriff's Department and troopers from the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Police made eight arrests for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Watkins estimated about 1,400 people were at the event that night.

The way I read it, the crowd started throwing cans at the EMT's who came to treat the victims, then when the cops started clearing the crowd, they started shelling the cops:

I don’t recommend throwing beer cans at police and first responders when drunk - especially in front of children. It doesn’t seem to be the right thing to do.
If they want reparations so bad, they can go ask the African and Middle Eastern governments for them.
I recall an article from many years ago, which reported about rampaging young bull elephants through villages. The problem was resolved by re-introducing mature males. IIRC, the mature males kept the young bulls in line.

Inner cities have rodeos too. There is one held on the south side of Chicago right next to the Cook County court complex, it is 100 % hispanic.
Remember “Stir Crazy”, prison rodeos were a thing at one time.

The one in Chicago was held in the shadows of the prison on county land but prisoners were not involved nor did they attend them. It was a community event going back to the 1980’s-90’s for the hispanic community.
As a New Mexican, some rodeos are 100% Hispanic.

Probably not in Gaston, South Carolina, though.
I have seen the best and the worst of humanity at the rodeo.
I pretty much don’t recommend throwing beer cans at anyone ... I also don’t recommend throwing batteries at baseball players ... Philadelphia fans take note.
A wooden toothbrush would have cleaned up the beer throwing idiots.
