US actress Joy Harmon, who was best known for a provocative short scene in the classic film Cool Hand Luke, has died aged 87.
Harmon died at home in Los Angeles on Tuesday after being ill with pneumonia for weeks, US media reported.
Her character did not have a line in the Paul Newman prison drama and was only on screen for about three minutes, in a car-washing scene rife with sexual innuendo.

Such a great movie it's ironic that a 3 minute non-speaking role was so memorable. I am sure a movie geek can explain the meaning much better than me.

Yes. Credit to the director, I would suppose.

I am sure a movie geek can explain the meaning much better than me. A busty blonde washes the car. Her boobs wash the window. Held together by a safety pin. In front of the prisoners who were not homosexuals

I just now explained the headline without even reading the text, to my wife of fifty-two years and she walked away in a huff. It didn't last because she walked right back in the room complaining about a crude commercial on her radio station.

I remember her from a scene in Bewitched and Gomer Pyle. Probably did others too, but the car wash was her “15 minutes”...
To: donozark
Luke was the only one who understood what she was doing.

She’s doing a whole lot of communicating here, but written
dialog was not needed in that part of the script.
Any speaking would have dulled the impact.
Wonder how many camera takes the director needed before he knew he had caught the look?

The water hose stuff gets cut out if played on network tv channels.

Remember her & that scene very well, but didn’t know her name at the time. Anyway, it was an excellent Paul Newman movie.

It was cool that he and Strother Martin were also together in Slapshot.

“… car-washing scene rife with sexual innuendo.”
What? Really? How could I have missed that?
To: dfwgator
Hansen brothers made that movie.
