People in the US do not realize how much a pain in the posterior Iran was being to it's neighbors.

The problem was their military was either crap or (Pakistan) they had a neighbor on the other side who they were more afraid of.

So they put up with missiles landing inside their borders occasionally for no reason and a few raids because there was nothing they could do about it.
