The correct word here is "slights."
There are cognates of these words in modern German, which make their meanings clearer:
English "slight" is related to the German "schlecht" (= "bad").
English "sleight" is related to the German word "schlau" (= "cunning").
The English word "sleight" is now used only in the expression "sleight of hand." It cannot be used to refer to someone offending or insulting someone.

I believe Swawell was eliminated to pave the way for the much more palatable Democrat Tom Steyer. The Dems think Katie Porter is a non-starter - she is a well-known harridan.
Really, non of this matters to California’s idiot voters. That and the Democrats can always count on illegals and vote fraud to swing elections in their favor.
