Gen Jack Keane 'skeptical' that Iran ceasefire will hold, warns Tehran will 'delay and obfuscate'

Retired four-star Gen. Jack Keane expressed doubt that the Iran ceasefire will hold, arguing Tehran is exploiting the pause to delay and ease pressure while testing whether the U.S. has "the stomach" to restart the fight.

"I am skeptical about where we’re heading with the Iranians because I flat don’t trust them, and I don't like taking the pressure off them by going to a ceasefire, which is what they want in any event to force the United States to stop the war," Keane said Tuesday on "Jesse Watters Primetime."

"We have done that, admittedly only temporarily, but we've got to see what's in that deal."

He warned that Tehran has a long track record of using negotiations to buy time, calling Iranian leaders "experts at obfuscating and delaying deals" who "lie and promise and don’t deliver."

It’s fair to assume POTUS will not restart the war no matter what Iran does.

I also agree with the general. Iran hasn’t negotiated in good faith for decades and its leaders still believe they can still continue to play the countries of the world like they have been doing. I do not trust the Pakistanis or any other Muslim state to lead the talks. Islam will always favor fellow Muslims over infidels. However, Trump will not tolerate any of Irans shenanigans and means what he says that Iran will be crushed if they do not live up to the ceasefire terms. The European countries especially England and France are too willing to support appeasement over ending the Iranian threat and have now demonstrated how weak they have become militarily.

The huge unanswered question: How was Iran, despite the continuos bombing, able to maintain control of the strait of Hormuz, close it and strangle the world’s energy supply?

It’s already not holding. The only parties abiding by the ceasefire are the U.S. and Israel. Iran keeps firing away.

They only have to wait a few months until Democrats win the house.

I think Trump is pretty skeptical about it too, But it’s all to his advantage politically to accept it for the time being. Then, when the Iranians don’t uphold their end of it, Trump will be more justified in continuing. We will see.

The General is right and this surrender will never keep the emboldened Iranians within any civilized parameters.

The Mullahs are stalling while they get new leadership in place - not “different” leadership, not “moderate” leadership, just replacements for all their leaders who were knocked off.

Sole intention? Like the only reason? That’s stupid. Iran has much more to gain from closing the Gays and Straights of Hormel than just getting a temporary cease fire. It’s like kicking the guy who is beating the life out of you in the balls. More to gain than just stopping him from hitting you.

Iran will use 10 days to prepare to attack and will attack before the two weeks are up

Yeah, 10 days to 2 weeks is all the time needed for Iran to rebuild back to where they started in February. Perhaps that is even enough time for their Ayatollah and a big chunk of their leadership to also resurrect from the dead.

we can all thank Ted Turner for that.

Well maybe. Remember when Ted was trying to buy one of the Networks and they had a conniption saying he was to right wing and would bring death and destruction to the world. That is why CNN exists. Maybe it would have been different if they had just let him buy whatever was for sale. Ted was pretty conservative, maybe Jane whipped it out of him.

I’m old enough to remember 30 minutes of news in the morning and lunch and 30 minutes of local and 30 minutes of national/world news at night and that was plenty.

It was a public service then, now it is a, big time business.
