Democratic strategist James Carville got blunt about why the Democratic Party remains unpopular on Monday, telling MS NOW host Ari Melber it was because they haven't won elections.
Melber noted polling published this month by CNN/SSRS that found just 28% of Americans have a favorable view of the Democratic Party, compared to 32% who have a favorable view of the Republican Party. Melber asked Carville whether this was troubling as the party looks to take back Congress in November.
"No," Carville responded. "The reason that people don't like the Democratic Party is the same reason I don't like it right now: we lost. When you win, that changes everything. People are part of a political party because they want the party to win elections. We lost the last election. You're not supposed to like us, OK? I don't like us."
Carville said the most important thing a political party can do is win elections and said he would start liking the Democratic Party again once they win some elections.

Carville has lashed out at President Donald Trump multiple times over the last few months and on Friday said he hoped he didn't "croak" before the midterms.
"You sit down, and you listen to me, you fat f---," Carville began.
"I told you that you'd be gone by April Fools of 2027," he continued. "I'm getting a little worried. I've got to tell you, I watched that word mash you had the night before last, I guess it was. Man, I've got to tell you, don’t go throw the f---ing number on me before the election, because I want you very, very aware on election night when people tell you what the f--- they think of you. They hate you. Everybody hates you."

What should bother all Americans is how many think the same way.
The party remains unpopular because Carville is one of its spokesmen.

Popularity has nothing to do with winning elections. The Dems are poised to win the midterms.
Win? To do what? Winning for the sake of winning?
The TDS anti working class losers on the right don’t help.
Calling everyone that disagreed with you as having TDS is a substitute for thinking.
Dems decided to exchange sanity for visceral hatred, nothing more.
But democrats love themselves and vote that way. So gullible and naively so.

Carville’s claim is the ultimate example of “backwards” logic. He thinks people dislike the Democrats because they lost; in reality, they lost because people dislike what they’ve become. It isn’t about the scoreboard—it’s about the insanity they are forced to defend. The Trump administration has effectively exposed this by driving wedge issues that force the Left into indefensible corners. Whether it’s the reflexive demand to allow biological men in women’s private spaces or the constant gaslighting of the American public, the lack of a moral compass is showing.
Their “Winning” Strategy is Dying. What Carville is actually mourning isn’t a “lack of popularity,” but the loss of control. He won’t admit that their path to victory has relied on institutional manipulation rather than genuine appeal. With the SAVE Act moving into place to secure the vote, they’re losing the ability to “manufacture” a win—and that’s why they’re finally being forced to face how “unliked” their platform really is.
“Cart before the horse” doesn’t quite explain Carville’s logic. It’s worse.

Good thing Carville is hot, otherwise Mary Matalin wouldn’t have stayed with him.
It’s going to be a great day for America when this snake is no longer slithering around scaring people.
The problem for Carville is that any candidate who doesn't talk like a ambiguously "gendered" campus activist with facial piercings won't do well in primaries which are decided by the activist base.
