Other modes of transport needed to be set up yesterday to make their "control" of this passage an irrelevancy. We are way past the point where technology should be able to make this possible.
If this is not part of the United States' and other powers in the region's immediate plans to come up with multiple other transport methods, then that is pathetic.
Saudi Arabia in particular has no excuses. They have coastlines on both the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea, but their major oil terminals are on the Gulf side.
What do you suggest? It would have to be safe from missiles Iran already has (or will have again) in numbers, drones, mini-subs, suicide attacks, etc.
