In a historic late night shakeup, CBS is replacing Stephen Colbert’s "Late Show" with Byron Allen’s "Comics Unleashed."
CBS announced in July that it had canceled "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" and that it would officially go off the air in May 2026 after a more than 10-year run. Liberal critics have accused CBS and Paramount of ending the show to appease President Donald Trump and receive approval for a long-planned merger between Paramount Global and Skydance Media.
What followed was a drawn-out drama between Colbert and his network that will finally come to an end this spring. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "The network will air Comics Unleashed With Byron Allen at 11:35 p.m. beginning May 22, followed by another Allen-produced series, the comedy game show Funny You Should Ask, at 12:35 a.m. The Late Show will sign off on May 21."

"The final season of "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" was recently ripped by Variety as "not very good TV" and out of touch with everyday Americans..."

I like Byron Allen, ever since “Real People.”
Maybe we’ll get to the real reason he was cancelled. That would take a real honest DOJ. Not sure that exists.
So, Comics Unleashed will replace Comic Unhinged.
It was canceled because the ratings were in the toilet.
And you can thank Greg Gutfeld at least in part....his show has been thumping other late night network shows for a while now.
No. What followed was nothing that anyone cared about because no one watched Colbert. Allen could have a couple month's worth of hilarious material just by doing a parody of the Colbert's Late Show complete with the dancing COVID jab needles.
This idiot is co-writing a new Lord of the Rings movie......I can’t wait until that flops at the box office.
Replace it with Captain kangaroo reruns, and you’d still beat it in the ratings
Coal-bear can’t get a lefty judge to file a TRO on his behalf?
That’s because Gutfeld’s show is actually funny.
True.
“That’s because Gutfeld’s show is actually funny.”
Mostly, but that fart discussion last night sucked.
I occasionally listen to or watch Gutfeld, and I think his dry delivery is hilarious, especially when something goes over like a dead balloon, as things occasionally do!
But Gutfeld’s show is still the most consistently funny show on TV. Gutfeld’s, and an occasional Laura Ingraham/Waters show, is all I ever watch on FNC.
Even back when Gutfeld was on Red Eye, I liked him somewhat, but only in small doses. I liked 2 guests back then; his alter-ego Bill Schulz and I enjoyed when Greg’s Mom Jackie would appear for a short remote visit.
Greg is smart and clever, but his smarmy, smugness wears on me. When he can refrain from the potty and the petty, he can be very good at analyzing and breaking down a particular concept.
***Note from Greg on June 10, 2014: San Mateo, Ca.
“The day that my mom died, she received her driver’s renewal notice from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
She would have found the irony hysterical!”
yeah, I saw that.
He’s getting a little too cocky and sure of himself and needs to remember what got him to this point- it was not tasteless fart jokes.
Wait, you mean the fact that he had a hugely expensive show with an insane number of staff, dwindling audience and insane losses to the network..........needs the DOJ to provide an answer for his cancellation? The response to your post requires I go back to my childhood.....Are you shitting me?!!
That alone is a good indication of how far gone Hollywood is.
another list of unleashed comics too cheap for colbert to employ, hoisted upon us.
The sleazier Gutfeld’s content is, the more his hooting dog audience reacts.
The same applies to that taxi driver comic on FNC Saturday night.
I avoid both.
