Nick Pope, a prominent voice in the study of unidentified aerial phenomena, has died after a battle with cancer. He was widely known for his work with the UK’s Ministry of Defence, where he investigated UFO reports in the 1990s, and was dubbed by the media as the real-life Fox Mulder (the fictional X-Files character portrayed by David Duchovny).
After leaving government service, Pope became a leading civilian commentator on UFOs, and was regularly featured in documentaries, news programs, and conferences. He championed greater transparency and scientific inquiry, and was the author of a number of books including "Open Skies, Closed Minds," and "The Uninvited: An Expose of the Alien Abduction Phenomenon."
Over the years, he was a frequent guest on Coast to Coast AM. Among his many appearances, listeners may revisit a 2007 interview with George Noory, in which Pope detailed his investigations into UFO sightings for the British military

“Nick Pope, a prominent voice in the study of unidentified aerial phenomena, has died after a battle with cancer.”
Sounds like he got too close...
And did he present any tangible evidence regarding what a UFO actually is before he died?
I only went to one UFO convention and he was there. 1995. He was also controversial because he was speaking out while working for the UK defense dept.
RIP
Sad news, have listened to Nick Pope for years. I remember when he and Richard Dolan would always get folks confused for each other.
RIP Nick. Prayers up for you and your family.
I hope he knew Jesus. Prayers for comfort for his family.
I remember him from the Art Bell radio days in the 90’s. It was always interesting to listen to him.
He was always a rational, level-headed ufologist. He will be sorely missed by the community.
Really bummed to hear this. He was a good chap. His book on the Rendlesham Forest incident was great.
Sorry to read this. R.I.P.
This is sad. I always liked and respected him. He never went too far on his many Ancient Aliens appearances or Coast to Coast radio ones.
There was one TV episode where the wild haired Georgio Tsoukalas tried to get Pope to join him in pushing his way past uniformed military guards to demand the press has a right to report UFO things and Pope refused to do it and sat in the car. He also said his vows of non-disclosure of British government secrets while he was in the government meant something to him and he stayed quiet about a lot.
I’ll miss him.
RIP.

That is sad. RIP. He wasn’t that old. I read a couple of his books. Seemed like one of the more level-headed researchers.
RIP..
I guess a lot of people, including top-level scientists, involved in this field are passing out disappearing often. Very suspicious.
Snatched too soon.
But by whom?
I liked him. Too bad.
A great name in UFOlogy.
