“”Wormholes are still strictly theoretical - a mathematical artifice. There is NO evidence of their existence!””

Yeah, funny how that works (or has worked). Once upon a time... rockets, lasers and space travel was a ‘strictly theoretical’ thing of fiction and only in the movies.
Mathematics (theory) often points the way, but not always. In every case you cited there was already existing physical evidence. Theory later made it usable and understandable. Scientists keep looking for evidence of wormholes, whiteholes, tachyons, etc. and find little other then wishful thinking to support their existence. An ongoing example dark matter\dark energy the physical evidence is now starting to fall apart, theoretical argument had never really gotten off the ground. Then there’s String Theory hundreds of PhD dissertations done, whole physics departments doing nothing but that, still no physical evidence. Strong case can be made that it’s a mathematical form of metaphysics.
