There’s been growing discourse in recent weeks over the Memphis Grizzlies and whether the team should flat-out leave the city. Lending his voice to the conversation is LeBron James, who made it clear that he has no love for the West Tennessee city.
During a recent golf outing with the Bob Does Sports YouTube channel, LeBron was asked if he’d consider playing for the Grizzlies in the twilight of his NBA career. But the four-time NBA champion dismissed the idea, declaring that he has no interest in playing in Memphis year-round.
“I’m (expletive) 41 years of age. You think I want to do (expletive) in Memphis on a random Thursday? I’m not the first guy in the NBA to talk about this. You guys got to move the team… go over to Nashville already.”
LeBron joked that the only way he ever would have played in Memphis is if he had been drafted by them in 2003. Though even then, he joked that he might have simply refused to play rather than play for the Grizzlies.

Memphis is more likely to give $$$ because they'll be desperate and it's likely that by 2029, there will be a MLB team in Nashville.
Move the team to Billings, Montana or maybe Boise, Idaho or Nome, Alaska.
LaBron James? Who is he? Did he do anything that helped humanity?
My sole experience with Memphis was back in ‘97. We stayed near Beale Street, visited a few bars there, went to Mud Island, Graceland, the Lorraine Motel, etc.
The area around the Lorraine Motel was kinda cruddy. There were cops standing on every street corner from when we got off the light rail and walked to it - and it was only a short 3 block walk.
But I never saw any of the really bad parts. But from what i’ve read, it’s gotten worse since then.
Thanks, I like that.
SE Tennessee resident here. Haven't heard a thing about Memphis since it got cleaned-up.
Any Tennessee Memphis area Freepers that can report on how it's doing?
I'm wondering what the Chicago White Sox will re-brand to once they move to Nashville?
Nashville White Sox.

Second: I know it's common here for @ 80% of the ignoramuses to pop off about places they have never lived so...
I lived in Downtown Memphis from 2022-2024. Its a dump regardless of what ICE is doing down there and Brown is correct.
The FedEx Stadium is beautiful, and you can walk a couple block of Beale St. Something only the tourists do, and something you only do once. Unless you want to be hounded by Bums and kids hustling junk.
If you have a choice and the $$ I suggest Germantown or Collierville.
MotorCityBuck?

Reverse migration?
I don’t blame him. Just watching the episodes of the First 48 filmed in Memphis is bad enough!
LOL!
No. Fortunately my line of work takes me all around the country. I always live downtown because most everything is within walking distance.
Detroit has always been “Home Base” in between assignments.
Family and friends and I love the weather ;).
“LeBron James Demands The NBA Move Out Of Memphis”. Lebron you are breaking his heart.

I was at the Navy base in Millington , about 30 miles away.
It was so damned humid there. Brick barracks without AC but a bunch of hurricane fans blowing, it sounded like a flight of B-24 bombers.
Sweating was the most popular past time.
Saw a couple concerts in Memphis . Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow with Dio as lead singer was the highlight of my time there.
