Conservativesister

Posted on 04/01/2026 9:13:55 AM PDT by conservativesister

Just went to the MD website to buy my 2026 Fishing license - THE GOVERNOR INCREASED THE PRICE from $5 to $12. for the Senior License. Not going to break my bank but what a slap in the face of Seniors.

Alaska seniors get a free lifetime hunting, fishing and trapping license when they turn 60.

And the Trout tag is no longer included. It’s an extra $20.

You should move to North Carolina. I have a lifetime hunting/fishing license because of my old age, but the fishing regulations are so strict that you can’t keep enough saltwater fish to eat, and some like flounder and trout you can’t catch at all. The reasoning is that recreational fishing depletes the sport fishing stocks, but the truth is our legislative members are owned by the commercial fisheries, which are allowed to net harvest tens of thousands of pounds of fish in the Pamlico sound, one of our largest fish nurseries. Right now, I’d gladly pay for another license just to be able to eat some fish.

Give up fishing; find a new hobby.

Florida seniors don’t need a fishing license.

I recommend viticulture. I was up to two wine clubs, until I maxed out my two wine fridges, with another two cases sitting in the pantry. I like to fish, too, just don’t have the time.
