The books are a good place to start others have their own ideas about it.

Make your own style the best have.

Just looking for new ideas.

No such thing. It's the same set of principles that guitar players have followed since that instrument was invented. That, and practice. Practice. Practice.

You already know about youtube, and Justin's Guitar Beginner Series. So, I won't share that with you.

“Just looking for new ideas.”

Start with a smaller guitar - “orchestra size.” A classical 6-string guitar would be perfect. USE NYLON STRINGS .. . be MERCIFUL to the person learning to play.

Get an “EASY PLAY” Beatles song book. GREAT place to start - songs are familiar, which greatly facilitates musical progress because you KNOW what it SHOULD sound like.

What you need to understand about Rock and Roll music is the, “One, Four, Five” chord progression theory. It’s the GLUE that holds everything together! Master this and you will be on your way!

Let’s ROCK!

Start with electric. Way less frustrating to learn the ropes and much more gentle period of developing callouses on the fingers.
Once you have a better grasp of what you’re doing and some callouses have developed you can insert acoustic instruments into your practices.
Depending on time spent I’d say 6 months minimum electric only, up to a year.
I’d suggest a flatter neck radius, like 12”, for the electric. Standard for most Gibsons and Epiphones plus plenty other brands.
