Elizabeth Eddy Biggs Knew Speaking Out Could Cost Her Soccer Career, But She Did It Anyway

Sometimes, doing what you believe is right comes with a cost. For former National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) midfielder Elizabeth Eddy Biggs, she knew that long before she ever hit "post."

Mrs. Biggs officially announced her retirement Tuesday after an 11-year professional career.

"I'm deeply thankful to God, my family, friends, teammates, staff, coaches and fans for this wild, wonderful journey, both full of blessing and growth," Mrs. Biggs said in a video posted to her social media.

And, in a conversation with OutKick on Monday, she said she's at peace with how everything unfolded — even if it didn't come without consequences.

"I would say overall, big picture, I’m feeling really settled and very excited for the future," Mrs. Biggs said. "As I look back on my career, I’m recognizing, like, wow, you played 11 years, won seven titles, three NWSL championships, three shields. And I'm ready for the next chapter."

But that "next chapter" didn't just arrive on its own. It followed one of the most controversial moments of Mrs. Biggs' career.

The footballer calls it a career after she was blasted by the woke NWSL, which ESPN will take charge on Sunday nights.

So women’s soccer just becomes another division of men’s soccer. There is no more professional women’s soccer. Some teams will play only against each other but they are still men’s teams.

This is actually a concept most don't understand, but at the same time it is also an indictment of those who(in apathy) do nothing but complain.

The thing about this cost is that this cost can be spread and shared - in other words we all pay just a little. It could be - if we lived in a time with widespread conservative activism.

But since most people have apathy Elizabeth Eddy Biggs has to bear the cost alone with virtually nobody to support her.

In that sense, Elizabeth Eddy Biggs is Atlas, with the burden on her shoulders alone. She took all of the cost.

Unbelievable this is controversial. But that’s the world we are in.

High School boys destroy the Olympic champion women’s team. This has been done over and over again. There would be no women in women’s soccer if men were allowed to play in the league. And of course there would be no audience either.
