House of Dynamite

I watched this last night and was blown away by how stupid it was. It had a good plot but the character portrayal of the military and executive government officials under the stress of nuclear missile launched against the US was horrific. Every one involved from the initial launch detection to the president issuing the go code was so overcome with stress that they couldn't focus and function. Missile commander left his position, SECDEF committed suicide, blah blah blah.

“Battle of the Bulge” does have one great scene in it.

Are you downplaying all their contributions while they were in the military?

Ummm, ... what do you mean, none of them were ever in the military?....

It’s less now, but not zero. It never will be.

I have spent considerable time in Israel and was there for a few wars. I was there near Qyriat Shemona on the Lebanese border when Israel invaded to solve the terrorist problem. That was before they called themselves “The Party of God”, or Hezbollah. I saw one missile attack, but then, it was one itty bitty Katusha rocket that would have to hit you to hurt or kill you. And it caused considerable fear then. I will never forget when the Israelis moved up their tanks on flat bed trucks on the border, and invaded. It was an awesome site. Unfortunately, the liberals stopped Sharon before he could finish the job then. It would have been a lot easier.

Right. It will never be zero.

It’s my opinion that unless deterrence fails we are wise to rely on deterrence.
