The European Union’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, said during a Monday press conference the ongoing war in Iran is “not Europe’s war,” but noted Europe’s interests are “directly at stake” as the conflict widens.
“This is not Europe’s war, but Europe’s interests are directly at stake. As this war expands, the EU’s priority remains the protection of our citizens,” Kallas told reporters after a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) in Brussels.

Asked by reporters on Monday on Trump’s remarks and if she thinks that the war in Iran is going to be more linked to Ukraine and NATO, Kallas said, “all these security theaters are very much interlinked when it comes to the capabilities that are needed in Ukraine or in the Middle East, when it comes to also our attention.”
“That is very, very clear,” she emphasized. “And the actors or our adversaries are also using this. So, this is very, very clear. Now, it is in our interest to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and that is why we are also discussing what we can do in this regard, from the European side.”

my thinking is that the USA eventually guarantees insurance and transit of oil for any countries that contribute, while the rest can take their chances ... hear that Europe?
It's not just oil that's not getting through. It's also fertilizer, which could create a famine for more than just the Euroweenies.
TODAY!
So when Iran and its proxies sent missiles into Crete (Greece & Turkey) the EU doesn't consider this their problem?
Gosh, I guess Kallas doesn't know that Greece has been a member of the EU since 1981. Not surprising. Also both Greece and Turkey are part of NATO, so Kallas must not consider any overlap between NATO and the EU.
Dumb, you just can't fix Dumb.
In fact, America gave very little money for the defense of Ukraine and even some of that money was given by Donald Trump himself in his first term in the form of weapons and training. In any event, Trump lied about the extent of the money America provided and much of the money that was in fact given was paid not to Ukraine but to our own arms manufacturers. Sometimes we charged the Ukrainians at a premium for near obsolescent arms. Today, Trump supports Ukraine but only at a profit. This from the man who justified shamelessly selling Ukraine out in negotiations by proclaiming he was concerned only about the loss of human life.
Any support given to Ukraine hardly amounted to supporting a black hole. Ukraine has valiantly exposed Russia, in its corruption, to be a hollow shell of conventional warmaking power. Unfortunately, Russia's nuclear capability ranks that thuggish autocracy among the most dangerous in the world.
And Europe was trying to get the US in the middle of that war to fight for whatever their aims are
No one was trying to get America to put boots on the ground and actually fight in Ukraine, we know it, the Europeans know it, and you know it. Our involvement in that war was not because we were inveigled by the Europeans into instigating it, rather it was we who inveigled the Ukrainians to fight against the Russians. It is we who are at moral risk.
And one other thing: your posting history suggests that Trump is not 'your' president, and I get the distinct impression the USA is not 'your country' either.
I have tried to live up to a promise to myself not to respond to scurrilous personal attacks. I have largely succeeded. I will not break my promise now.
The degree of Russia's power to affect Europe by nuclear threats can only increase as America's nuclear deterrent power is withdrawn
To this date, the United States of America is the only nation in the history of mankind to use nuclear arms in warfare
Do you have enough fingers to count the number of wars instigated by Russia in the last 10 years? In every one of them Russia alone possessed the bomb. In other words, in the absence of deterrence, Russia attacks.
You seem to be indifferent to the peril of nuclear war and the incidental threat of nuclear proliferation. The non-proliferation among European powers after France and England has been successful for three quarters of a century, thanks to NATO and the fact that America had created and maintained a credible nuclear deterrence.
Perhaps the most successful multilateral defense organization in the history of the world, NATO kept us safe, our allies safe, and all of us safe from the perils of nuclear proliferation in Europe.
Now the contagion is likely to metastasize. What a brilliant foreign policy! Do we feel better because we briefly enjoy a narcissistic hot flash?
