GREEN BAY, Wisconsin - The blizzard that slammed parts of the U.S. has officially broken a record in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The recent snowfall marks the biggest snowstorm in 136 years, with 26.1 inches recorded in the city as of 1 p.m. on Monday.

On Sunday, the area recorded 17.1 inches and an additional 9 inches of snow fell today.

With over 17 inches of snow falling, a new record was set as the third-snowiest day on record in Green Bay - the highest snowfall in one day since 1889.

The biggest snowstorm the area has ever seen happened on March 1 and 2, 1888, when 29 inches of snowfall was recorded, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS said 26 inches is also nearly half, or 47%, of their average annual snow of 55.6 inches.

And on the other side of Lake Michigan I don't recall a St. Patrick's Day looking like this. Normally we call March "mud season," not this year as it is still snowing.

My cottage is not far away, Gaylord MI:

Look on the bright side. This will provide the opportunity for them new-fangled rechargeable Snow Plows to shine.

Show us how it’s done, Green Bay!

Not so impressive. Connecticut had the same amount a few weeks ago.

Yeah but everything is better in Connecticut than everywhere else. Except for everything.

That’s a shame.

Meanwhile, first of 37 past winters here i had no use for a snow thrower. It’s going to have to give up its spot in the garage to the pressure washer since it’s supposed to hit 80 F soon.

So - they have to put two snowfalls together to “break the record”, Rochester NY and Buffalo have had larger single day snowfalls than the initial 17” this farticle (not a typo) sensationalizes.

My parents had a place on the lake in the peninsula. Snowed in many times up there.

We must stop global warming and push those temperatures down. Cut off the interstate transportation of fossil fuels

Our Foster Son lives in the Fox Valley, about 3 hours north of us. We got 5” of snow - he got over 20”! Anything north of 10” will shut down a city or town for at least a day.

All of the northern State and Federal highways were closed for TWO DAYS to clean up the mess.

He sent me texts of the 3’ drift on his front porch. He had to go out the back to start digging out the front door.

Joke all ya want, but this is some serious shiite for those involved, especially the elderly. Lots of power lost and temps in the teens up there until the end of the week.

It will not end well for some. :(

Waiting to see how many babies were born in the middle of all of this, LOL!

The last after the fact explanation I read for cold weather as a product of global warming went like this. The air is warming in the arctic and “pushes” cold air to the south. Why the air would just warm in the arctic is beyond me. Why the push? If I turn on a burner on the stove, or have a fire in the fireplace, I don’t experience a push of cold air.
