HOLLYWOOD, CA — The horror movie Sinners has officially won the Oscar for "Crappiest Movie To Win An Oscar".
The award each year goes to the most awful, banal cinematic catastrophe that somehow squeaks out an Oscar for being extra gay or not having any white people in it.
"And the award goes to...Sinners!" announced host Conan O'Brien. "You actually won an Oscar for that appalling pile of trash, congratulations. Really, it's an amazing accomplishment to somehow score an Oscar for that monstrous affront to writing and acting, well done. Tip of the cap."
At publishing time, Sinners had also taken home the award for "Best Movie No One At The Academy Actually Watched Because Life Is Too Short."
Ping!
There have been some pretty bad Oscar winners over the years, so this is saying something, even if it is from the Bee.
It’s an almost ALL black cast.....but that can’t be it.....can it? 🤔
Cheap shot. Worse pictures have won Oscars — including this year’s “One Battle After Another.” “Sinners” started out pretty good. It’s mistake was going into the whole zombie thing — and the revenge fantasy at the end.
I was pulling for F-1 the Movie as it was one of just a couple of movies that we bothered watching in the theater.
Loved it—had a real Hollywood Actor—(Brad Pitt) looking tough, gritty and Pretty Boy...had revving engines and testosterone—had usual plot arc, but no one cared because it was a Hollywood movie. and finally, the good guys won...
Yeah there was a gratuitous love scene, but thats the price one pays for a Hollywood production. Heck, even LeMans had an implied love scene...
So, what it got best sound? Cool beans I suppose, but really?
Worst movie to get best picture was back in the stoneage, Shakespere in Love....I wonder how anyone could sit through that tripe without gouging out their eyes.
I know this is the Babylon Bee, but Sinners is not the crappiest movie to ever win Best Picture. That honor most definitely goes to American Beauty, hands down.
Moonlight. Another bad movie that nobody saw.
I know nothing about the film, but in general, I’ve not been impressed with Oscar winning films from the 21st century.
Is it just me? I have never heard of any of the movies and I am not close to tempted to watch one. Most of the actors and actresses up for nomination I have never heard of. I guess without Harvey’s acting couch we can’t get new starlets who are sexy and act well. I rarely watch any part of the Oscars, happy to wait for the results. But I can’t even care about those. Someone I never heard of won best actor for a film I will never watch. What happens when the rich and famous are no longer either.
I think the last Best Picture I liked was “The King’s Speech”.
Is that the one for which Warren Beatty had the wrong card and called out La La Land instead?
I didn’t think Sinners was bad for what it was - A mid B-level vampire horror flick. I just wasn’t a best picture caliber of film. That this and the DiCaprio movie had so many noms tells you tells you how bad Hollywood has gotten.
Good satire has a basis in truth.
Sinners was a fine movie. It wasn’t a “great” movie. It wasn’t what I would consider “classic.”
But it starred black actors. And I guess that makes it special.
I like Michael Jordon as an actor. He was good in this.
But I think the entire crop of contenders this year was pretty weak.
You didn’t like Shakespeare in Love? Don’t speak for me.
I forgot about The English Patient, that was bad. The movie that turned my live and let live attitude away from the homos was The Crying Game.
When Hollywood goes full on AI (and it will one day) actors will good the way of the Dodo bird just like silent film actors, at least we won’t have to put up with all the out of touch self righteous condescending bs.
I just hope I’m still around to enjoy it.
It was a very good movie.
