ORLANDO, Fla. (WESH/CNN NEWSOURCE/WKRC) - A Florida judge sentenced a 70-year-old man to 37 years in prison Wednesday for a 2023 crash that killed four members of one family.
Richard Ferguson was convicted in October 2025 of manslaughter after prosecutors said he allowed his unlicensed 15-year-old son to drive his car. Authorities said the teen, who did not have a permit, crashed into another vehicle, killing three children and their grandmother.

Well I read Ferguson has stage IV prostrate cancer.
The older-guy-with-assets is in most FL womens’ roster.
He is a fool twice over.
A 19 year old Hispanic kid who was high on alcohol and drugs, ran a red light and broadsided my brother’s car, killing him. The Hispanic kid only got 4 years prison time.
My dad was 42 and my mom 24 when they were married.
Wow, that is amazing. Thanks for sharing. History seems closer when you hear about generations like that.
4 innocent people got a death sentence. No pity for a stupid guilty person.
“does this verdict set a precedent that drivers with unlicensed family members need to lock up their car keys?”
Underaged kids have been known to take a family car for a joyride and harm people in the process. Probably locking up car keys isn’t the answer, but keeping an eye on them couldn’t hurt.
5 years makes the point. The victims aren’t coming back by giving a 30 year sentence to a third party.
Years ago I was parked on a side street. I looked at my car just as another car backed into it out of a driveway.
Long story short, it was a 15 year old kid who was “practicing.”
I got his name and address and told him that his dad needed to call me by 8pm and tell me he was paying for the minor damage.
I told the kid that I don’t care what his dad does to assure that the kid pays him back.
I figured that was a better all around situation than getting the law involved.
his dad did call and was furious. Not at me. He paid the repair bill.
24...smells like ciggys, bubblegum, and covered in glitter.
Or how about leaving one’s drug stash laying around and a youngster gives some of it to his play friends or brings it in for show and tell.
Regards.
Also. The kid was doing 80 in a 30 when blew the stop sign and killed the 4 family members.
It is life, but if you are 70, 37 years is life
Interesting-I don’t see this that much
Between my youngest and my great grandfather we have >160 years between birthdates
The son got off way too easy. Part of America’s tolerance of juvenile crime.
Math suks, am I right?....
It is Monday Lee.
Why do you have to be an asshole about? Try a little decorum.
I never took the family car for a joyride when I was a teen. That said, I would likely have had my driving privileges revoked or curtailed if my parents had the current technology to monitor my whereabouts and driving behavior 50 years ago.

I have a 65 year old cousin with a newborn son. He had several kids after he turned forty years old.
