Iran could attack Americans with “thousands” of sleeper cells hiding across the country, along with innovative drone assaults never before seen in the country, a former top US fighter pilot cautioned after intelligence reports suggested strikes on California were possible.
“It’s not a matter of if — it’s a matter of when,” retired Top Gun Navy fighter pilot Matthew “Whizz” Buckley told The Post, warning that Americans were vulnerable to Iranians hungry to retaliate after the US killed the Islamic Republic’s supreme leader and unleashed war across the Middle East.
Chief among the dangers are scores of Iranian agents who “likely” slipped into the US over the southern border and could be waiting for orders from handlers in Tehran to strike, Buckley said.
“There is probably thousands, if not tens of thousands of Iranian agents and sleeper cells in this country,” he said, adding that sources in Customs and Border Protection have ominously told him, “You wouldn’t believe how many Korans and prayer rugs we find in the desert.”
“These people are here,” Buckley said. “So not only do we have potential lone wolf or homegrown terrorists, but we have actual Iranian agents in this country.”
Buckley’s warning comes after the FBI issued a notice to California law enforcement in late February that Iran could be plotting a drone attack on the state in retaliation for the US-Israeli attack on Tehran, which left despotic Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and nearly 50 of his top officials dead.
And while the White House has denied the danger of those drone warnings — press secretary Karoline Leavitt insisted they were based on “unverified intelligence” and that there was no real threat — Buckley said Americans would still be wise to “keep your head on a swivel.”

The problem is numbers. One of them could kill several of us, but several of us can only kill one of them, and almost nobody has the heart for lethal self-defense, which gives a jihadist an advantage.
Kamikaze really had the Sailors spooked. Killed thousands and sent more than a few big ships to the bottom.
Hindsight (and Political Correctness) being 20/20 the usual bedwetting suspects always speak of the World War II internment of Japanese as a horror on par with Senator McCarthy or the House Committee on Un-American Activities, but from 1939 to 1942 the Allies were getting their ass handed to them, it was by no means inevitable that America would prevail in a two front war. People were scared $&itless.
The government itself was leaving nothing to chance, a very notable difference in character in all subsequent conflicts and general peacetime policy.
One might say that five or six decades of essentially wide open, uncontrolled borders represents a failure or dereliction of duty on the part of government but that’s being far too kind. Some components of government wanted this to happen and have been making this happen. No other explanation is possible, and from an historical perspective about as wicked and evil as it gets. There are actually very, very few things the federal government is actually required to do, get right down to it, and “protect the various states from invasion” is probably the main.
Sovereign nation states naturally are not popular with the global totalitarians and other assorted goons, so we’ve been witnessing attacks from all fronts in one form or another ever since.
Bring it. We’re pushovers.
