I have known plenty of Iranians, before, during, and after November 1979, and the ones I knew were likable, westernized, secular, urbane and intelligent.

I know the Islamic Regime did everything in its power to barbarously murder those types of people, but I’ll bet that that a majority of educated Iranians today would, if they didn’t have a scimitar held to their neck, classify themselves as secular muslims.
