A Santa Clara County jury has reached a verdict after a three-month trial in the case of a Los Gatos mother accused of hosting alcohol-fueled gatherings for teenagers and exposing them to harm.
Shannon O’Connor, 51 — who has been dubbed the “Party Mom” — pleaded not guilty in 2023 to 63 felony and misdemeanor charges, including child endangerment, sexual battery and furnishing alcohol to minors.
According to court documents, prosecutors identified 12 juvenile girls, referred to as “Jane Does,” and eight boys, “John Does,” as victims. O’Connor was found guilty of 48 of the 63 charges against her. Of those, she was convicted of 17 felonies and 31 misdemeanors, per the Santa Clara District Attorney's Office.
Teen witnesses testified that O’Connor tightly controlled aspects of their social lives and routinely exposed them to unsafe situations.
“This defendant not only didn’t protect these children, she endangered their safety, coordinated their sexual assaults, and she tried to get them not to tell,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen said. “These brave kids came forward to tell the truth about what happened and to put a stop to it.”
O’Connor’s conduct largely occurred during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic during the 2020-21 school year, when many students were isolated due to school closures. Prosecutors alleged O’Connor was motivated by an “unnatural or abnormal sexual interest” in children and pressured teens at some gatherings to engage in sexual activity while they were intoxicated and unable to consent.
She did not testify in her own defense during the trial, according to the Mercury News. But on Dec. 23, 2025, she called the newspaper from the Elmwood Women’s Facility to dispute the allegations and object to how she had been portrayed, saying she had become a scapegoat for teenagers’ behavior.
“I’m not saying I’m not at all to blame whatsoever. It was my alcohol that they got drunk off of. It was my home that they were at,” she added. “I feel responsible.”
However, she denied allegations of sexual abuse and misconduct.
“They were given immunity to point the finger at me so they wouldn’t get in trouble,” O’Connor reportedly told the outlet. “Teenagers are sneaky. They find their way to things. … As soon as you close that door, you’re not 100% positive what’s going on.”
She faces a “long prison term” at a sentencing date later this year. During the trial, 20 young adults and 41 witnesses testified.

“Was that wrong?”
A a three-month trial?
A picture is required to establish punishment / guilt.😉
Guilty
I took the bullet and looked her up. Guilty as charged.
Thanks.
Guilty!
Lock her up!
😉🤟
If you’re a teenage girl, and this Party Mom is your mother, boys will automatically assume that girl is ‘Easy’.
“”my alcohol that they got drunk off of. It was my home that they were at””
Clearly an English major!
Unfortunately
“They were given immunity to point the finger at me so they wouldn’t get in trouble. Teenagers are sneaky. They find their way to things. … As soon as you close that door, you’re not 100% positive what’s going on.” — lot of truth in that. Prosecutors coach witnesses to get what they want (and are measured on). Reminds me a bit of the child daycare case 20 years ago where the kids were coached to make all sorts of outlandish and ridiculous claims.
There were actually cases in multiple jurisdictions thus, IIRC.
One reason for 50 year olds to avoid teenagers social life? Ya’ gotta’ have ulterior motives to be feeding teens alcohol....
Was stupidity one of the charges?
It should have been!
Kids that record everything on their phones - and have big mouths, they brag and blab about everything.
Mehh...I’ve had worse. Let’s note that more than a little alcohol was involved.
Well now I feel ripped off.
Our high schools party mom just set up a keg and some tents but we had to find our own girls.
