The statement came after Warner Bros. Discovery's board of directors described Paramount Skydance's latest offer to acquire the company as "superior" to Netflix's current bid.
Netflix said it would not submit a higher offer for Warner Bros. Discovery after the company's board described Paramount Skydance's latest offer as "superior."
The stunning twist leaves Paramount Skydance, headed by David Ellison, as the remaining bidder and in position to take control of the storied media giant.
Paramount's bid was for the entire company while Netflix was seeking to acquire only its streaming service, HBO cable channel and film studio business.

I am not a Netflix fan.
With any luck, this will lead to a big shakeup at CNN.
“I am not a Netflix fan.”
I still miss Blockbuster, LOL!
I really DID enjoy their DVD mail service. It was the best for those of us living in the boonies with no cable or dish and no access to a Blockbuster, anymore. ;)
Other than that - they can go to H#ll.
I’m with you on this one.
Didn’t Anderson Cooper just leave CBS News? Probably thought he no longer had to work for Bari Weiss.
I know he is still with CNN.
My dad used the Netflix dvd service when it was active because he lives in the middle of nowhere.

to me this is all deckchair shuffling on the SS Hollyweird.
So either Larry Ellison or Obama Netflix was gonna win.
Wonderful times’ we’re living in. /s
Netflix won.
The best deals are often the ones you do not make and walk away from.
Not only would Netflix have overpaid big time, it was going into unfamiliar territory.
As far as I can tell Netflix is the only paid subscription service making meaningful money.
Why try to fix what ain’t broken.
As far as Paramount goes they really overpaid.
I know its early but CBS under Paramount doesn’t look much different that it did before.
Time will tell if Ellison is a media mogul that can make things work.
What I’m going to be looking at is Susan Rice on the Netflix board.
Sarandos wanted this buyout in the worst way and it appears that Rice did as much to put a nail in the deal’s coffin as anyone.
It would be sweet if Sarandos made Rice a scapegoat and he gets her off the board.
Paramount will have to cover Warner Bros.’ $2.8 billion breakup fee to Netflix.
Me too. Don’t have a vast holding in WBD, but am standing at +300% profit right now. I wanted Paramount to win; Netflix is evil
I have WBD stock too. Got it when AT&T spun off Warner Bros.
