MILWAUKEE -- Over the weekend, the Los Angeles Lakers honored legendary coach and current Miami Heat executive Pat Riley with a statue outside of Crypto.com Arena. The eight-foot tall, 510-pound bronze sculpture captures Riley in a triumphant pose with one arm raised above his head and dressed in his iconic Armani suit.
Few coaches in NBA history, if any, have been as stylish as Riley, who commanded the sidelines in an array of designer suits and alligator belts. It was no surprise, then, that he had some thoughts about the current fashion trends in the league.
"I wish it went back to coat and ties," Riley said of the NBA coaches' dress code. "I think an audience wants to see somebody on the sidelines who looks like a leader, dresses like a leader, acts like a leader."

The China V and Nike together worked to eliminate the fancy suits that we loved. There's power in a suit -- whether it's in the suits we see on Fox & Friends, a broadcast (which makes Fox NASCAR different than BSkyB F1 or even INDYCAR), a leader, and the rest. Hockey is effectively the last sport left where leaders are in suits.
Miss the days when coaches were paid to wear a clothier's best suits.
Maybe they will after seeing John Fetterman gave up his hoodie and shorts for the SOTU. LOL
Love the fact that all NHL coaches wear a suit or jacket with a tie—nice to see, very traditional and old school,,,,also much nicer than Belichick’s cut off sweatshirt, homeless look.

You can't wear pajamas to a game.
Doc Rivers is a moron. Same as Steve Kerr and Van Stan Gundy. Not interested in anything those clowns have to say.
Sure wish NFL coaches would return to wearing suits.
The athletic wear companies want coaches to be models for their gear. Miss the days of suits on coaches. Tom Landry was the standard. One NFL coach of the 21st century (Mike Nolan) was told by the NFL he couldn’t wear a suit.
Agreed, a high level of decorum adds stature and class to a coach.
Yep, Belichick lowered the appearance standards to an unimaginable low level with his homeless look.
Even the assistant coaches wear suits in the NHL.
Just be thankful NBA coaches don’t wear player uniforms like baseball managers.
Connie Mack always wore a suit.
Bags, over the head.
Nobody wears suits anymore, except maybe TV news anchors or funeral home directors.
I wish the men on NFL TV shows would wear sportswear instead of dressing up like a bunch of pimps.
Or even the team warmups.
“Belichick lowered the appearance standards to an unimaginable low level with his homeless look.”
Well, I guess if you’re the chick magnet that Belichick is you can get away with that.
