Alysa Liu was born via surrogacy to a single father, and his motives are questionable
Americanthinker ^

Her father decided to have her born by way of an anonymous egg donor and a surrogate mother.

His obsession about having a figure skating daughter was clear: ‘I spared no money, no time,’

Alysa was intentionally created for a single-parent household; she will never know what it means to have a mother. Is this a fair and ethical decision to make?

Since my ex was Chinese I can tell you.....yes, Halfies are quite popular in China - specifically Caucasian and Asian Halfies. Not in every case of course, but I do not the kids of such a pairing often turn out really beautiful.

Excellent points. Why are the ethics of single mothers not questioned? Raising a kid without a father leads to worse outcomes for those kids vastly more often than kids of two parent families. So having kids without a father voluntarily should also be considered ethically questionable but don’t you DARE question it or you will be ripped to shreds by Feminazis.

True. Some are more irritating than others, though.

This young girl deserves accolades for what she has acheived [sic], not back fence gossip about her origin and life.

I'm assuming that there was no breach of confidentiality in play here - that the individuals willingly advertised their laboratory origins to the world at large, perhaps thinking that it would imbue them with a certain "cachet" or otherwise "score them points."

When someone does that, we are entitled to opine.

I fail to see why his ethics are questioned while single motherhood is celebrated.

Straw Man Fallacy!

No one here at FR is "celebrating" single motherhood!

And if he “really” wanted a great skater he wouldn’t have done “anonymous” donations…he would have searched for the best physical characteristics.

The client can specify what kind of genetic material he or she is looking for - down to the smallest detail. The actual identity of the donor still remains confidential.

Not in every case of course, but I do not [??] the kids of such a pairing often turn out really beautiful.

Just as a mule - the offspring of a male donkey (a jack) and a female horse (a mare) - differs from a hinny (the offspring of a male horse - a stallion - and a female donkey - a jenny) - the offspring of a male Caucasian male and a female Asian differs from the reverse.

Further, female offspring differ (in more than just the sex-related ways) from the male offspring of such pairings.

The daughters of male Caucasians and female Asians are the most beautiful.

The male offspring of either pairing are usually a little undersized / slight of build, and hence less attractive (by Western standards).

The post linked an article from American Thinker which was questioning the guy's ethics for becoming a single father. Single motherhood has become normalized and even celebrated in many circles of American society over the last few decades. It is not a "straw man fallacy" to question why an article from a nationwide magazine presents him in a negative light while single motherhood is often praised.

IMHO, “test tube” or “pecker tube”, who cares?

It’s the relentless training, financial drain, and small stature that make figure skaters...

In addition, it helps to have grandparents available to transport the skater, after school, to endless training and practice sessions at an endless number of geographically-dispersed skating rinks...

That should have been “I do note” not “I do not”. The Caucasian-Asian pairing often produces beautiful kids. Yes, males are often a little more slight....maybe western women don’t find them that attractive. Chinese women definitely do. I think everybody finds Halfie women to be attractive.

It is not a "straw man fallacy" to question why an article from a nationwide magazine presents him in a negative light while single motherhood is often praised.

Unless tagged with a "Barf Alert!", it is generally understood that the poster is in agreement with the article - i.e., that it presents his own point of view.

So your accusations of "Hypocrisy!" are invalid.

It is unjustified for you to assume that the poster and/or the actual author of the piece support single motherhood.

I hadn’t watched any of the Olympics this year, but this girl intrigued me so I went back and saw her performances, as well as an interview she did last month.

She is not only technically outstanding, but very uniquely artistic. And she seems to be very self-possessed and intelligent, not only mentally but emotionally. She seems to have been brought up well.

(In the 60 minutes interview, it’s also disclosed that her father was one of the people organizing protests around the time of Tiananmen Square massacre, and had to flee China.)
