The leading icon of the American Right in the 1960s into the 1970s was Sen. Barry Goldwater (R-AZ). He was so beloved that the party’s base made him their presidential nominee in 1964 despite the widespread belief that he was too “extreme” to ever get elected (LBJ crushed him in a landslide). He represented Arizona in the US Senate for 30 years.
Goldwater (whose father was Jewish) talked to Pat Buchanan in 1988 about many topics. Here’s what he said about Israeli influence in the US:

Have you read Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution? Goldwater was eligible to be president, but Section 1 clearly explains why Washington is not a relevant comparison.

Goldwater had a real chance to win the election of 1964.
It was the republicans. The GOP Establishment sided with the democrats. Mainly, they exemplified party split while they, they GOP Establishment, are always the one demanding party unity.
The GOP only supports unity when you support the GOP Establishment’s hard left wing agenda. The GOP will not unify on conservatism and the U.S. Constitution.
Conservative Jews and Leftist Jews (in leadership positions) have some things in common.
Hint on one: They are determined thought police—censorship and getting people fired from jobs are two of the tools in their tookit.

Goldwater very much misunderstood the history of the
problem.
It was the Arabs not the Jews who rejected the U.N.’s two state solution, and when they did it was not with a cry for a “Palestinian” state (not even part of the original PLO manifesto) but instead for a “Pan-Arab” state across multiple Middle East borders - anything to not allow the Jews one inch for their own.

However, its “legitimacy” is heavily debated, as it was a unilateral promise of giving away land not owned by Britain, which conflicted with other promises made to indigenous leaders and was made while the region was still under Ottoman control.
It served as a foundational document for the creation of the State of Israel, acting as a “charter” for the Zionist political movement. It is considered highly controversial and not legitimate by many due to its disregard for the indigenous population.

And the 14th Amendment states anyone born (and under the jurisdiction of - important for illegals) “in the United States.”
A territory of the USA is “in the United States”
It doesn’t say “in a state of the United States”.

Plenty of presidents and VP were born in territories of the USA: James K Polk comes to mind (born in 1795 in the SW Territory). If the poster’s theory was the authors’ of the Constitution intent, given they were alive and kicking at the time, surely they would have spoken up.
Some of us remember when the Bush cabal at FR routinely called Buchanan a Nazi.
I think that smear dated back to the pre-internet era when the particularly nasty Bush speechwriter David Frum was warmly embraced by what now gets mocked as “Conservatism, Inc.” The American Spectator sold its credibility when it featured a cover story hit piece on Buchanan written by Frum.
Buckley also encouraged that same effort when he delivered the once important National Review to the crowd that has made it completely irrelevant. Buckley famously back stabbed Buchanan, Sobran and basically the movement that would end up as MAGA.

All were/are in the GOP and considered conservatives, one was the nominee for president, senators, congressman, etc.
I am Jewish and I a State Senator and I am Conservative. How you think it is morally correct to want to erase my religion because there are many who are leftist activists is outrageous. I assure you, as a percentage, there are many more Christian and Catholics who are left wing wackos but nobody is calling for their extinction. You think you can sacrifice Jews and you will be safe... It is Germany in the 1930’s and, like the 1930’s, everyone is burying their head in the sand.

Goldwater talked in facts and figures. Reagan talked with stories that touched people. When Reagan made his Address in October 1964, people called Conservatives and said, “ now I understand what you believe. Goldwater was always bitterly jealous of Reagan. Goldwater’s Conservatism was elitist. Reagan’s Conservatism was populist.
