Jon Cooper is blaming the Olympic overtime rules for Canada’s loss to the United States.
Unlike the 4 Nations Face-Off and the Stanley Cup Playoffs, where the overtime period is five-on-five, the Olympics use a three-on-three format. This is designed to make overtime periods quicker and reduce shootouts. It’s also used in the NHL regular season.
“You take four players off the ice, now hockey’s not hockey anymore,” Cooper said, via The Hockey News. ”There’s a reason overtime and shootouts are in play — it’s all TV-driven to end games, so it’s not a long time. There’s a reason why it’s not in the Stanley Cup final or playoffs.”

Two darned good defensive efforts in holding each other to one goal in regular time. The US especially, being outshot by that margin.
Booing our national anthem in Montreal last year was enough for me.
Silver medals should have DJT’s face on them.

By putting your team on the ice in the first game of the Olympics, you accepted the rules, so STFU.

Agree. College hockey is the same. OT is 3 on 3 and then they proceed to a shootout.

LAst fall in Toronto and Montreal the fans and the Canadian hockey teams booed the US national anthem because of Prime Minister Carney's attacking PDJT.

I understand that nobody cares in the US when us Swedes grumble, but the fact was that we didn’t. Everyone knew the rules, and then it’s no use to complain afterwards.

I don't agree with the 3-on-3 OT format either, but the time to fight that was before The Games. And hey Canada, everyone had to play by it and you didn't complain when you beat the Czechs in OT.
