DALEVILLE, Ala. (WTVY/Gray News) - An Alabama teenager was killed late Thursday after he was attacked by a pack of dogs, according to authorities.
Dale County Coroner John Cawley said 16-year-old Gabriel Damien Barron was fishing in his private pond on his Daleville-area property when dogs described as pit bull mixes mauled the teen.

Have a relative living with her boyfriend and his 8 year old girl. The relative adopted a pit bull from the shelter because she felt sorry because he was an orphan. His mom had gotten shot. If the dog mauls the girl the relative will likely kill herself because she has depression issues. All I can do is pray.
The thing is, is that in the country, many dogs roam the countryside and do not have an owner. maybe they had one once upon a time but now they are like the old hobo’s during the depression. Robbing food bowls when they can or eating road kill, no home, no owner but now and then joining a few other dogs looking for trouble like a bunch of teenage boys out for the night. All it takes is one alpha dog to lead them and they will all join in what the alpha dog does. Sometimes a local dog will join in for a short time and be as guilty as the rest before going back home and being the loving pet that the owner would swear his dog would never do anything bad.
When we moved down here there was a pack of about 20 ferals running around. Between me and the neighbors they all got lead poisoning.
Domestic dogs, when lost or abandoned, often become feral especially in rural areas. There is no gatekeeper examining the candidates to screen for pit bulls.
Many people have very limited life experience. Some spend all their time indoors, having no idea what goes on in the real world.

If I were going to swing something, I think it would be a wooden baseball bat or similar. I would go for the base of the skull, but it may take a first strike on the top of the head to stun. If it’s a pit bull, give it all you’ve got, they have thick skulls and dogs are very quick in close quarters. It would take a lot of strength and would be very messy.
Have you looked into a Taser?
As I was trying to explain to A strike, it seems the guy who signed up to be the “keep the pitbulls from becoming feral” agent has gone awol.
Or maybe your mind, scrambling for something to hold onto as it attempts to understand this confusing world, told you that pitbulls, when they’re lost or abandoned, are instantly targeted by alien spacecraft and teleported up to the mother ship?

Dog tags for pit bulls - or bit bull 'mixes' should run a $1,000 a dog.
Well if they are loners the coyotes will get them. I would imagine there are 100’s of thousands nation wide at any one time.If not running in a pack of other dogs they won’t last for long. living in nature is hard for any animal, it is very cruel. Eat or be eaten, just like fish.
So I hope I’ve convinced you that there are no space aliens abducting feral pitbulls.
Large domestic dogs are a significant challenge for coyotes, unless there are more than three coyotes. Feral dogs are even worse for them.
Coyotes are not above feral dogs on the food chain.

What if you go for the small of the back, just above and forward of the hind legs, to break the back bone and cripple the dog before finishing it? (Asking for a friend who doesn’t know.)
Occasionally the neighborhood has to organize a hunt.
