According to the FCC, what languages are and are not acceptable to broadcast vulgarity? If Spanish is acceptable for swearing on broadcast TV, why?

I looked it up. In addition to the "seven naughty words" it's largely governed by "community standards."

Kinda funny though, my wife watches a Russian TV streaming service in our home. They'll bleep out the Russian profanity but not the English profanity.

So, a particularly spicy show might sound like this, "Bleep, bleep bleep, Mother F-----!, bleep, bleep..."

I'll look over at my wife, "That, I understood!"

My wife is Russian, and I’ve experienced the same thing. It does sound funny when you hear it.

Wow, if ‘community standards’ consider the vulgarity acceptable… what does that say about the FCC’s interpretation or evaluation of that community? Looks like they have some explaining to do either way.

Your Russian story reminded me of French speaking Canadians I was friends with as a kid. Same thing, when they switched from English to French it was hysterical picking out the…. universal language.
