A man was detained near the Mexican border on Tuesday night in connection with Nancy Guthrie's abduction as police performed a court-ordered search of the property where he had been staying.
The unidentified individual was taken into custody following a traffic stop south of Tucson Tuesday night, the Pima County Sheriff's Department announced.
'The subject is currently being questioned in connection to the Nancy Guthrie investigation,' the department said in a statement.
He was taken into custody in Rio Rico, Arizona - a small town near the US border with Mexico, where authorities are now carrying out a court-ordered search of a home near Interstate 19.
'There were five or six unmarked cars and they had a silver SUV pulled over, a police car facing it. Two guys were out of a car, and their hats said "FBI,"' witness Krystal Bacica told the Daily Mail.
'The only police car that was marked said Marana Police,' she continued, noting that 'they pulled the car right in front of my apartment building in Frontage Road, Rio Rico.'
But federal authorities are looking at more than one 'person of interest,' FBI Director Kash Patel told Fox News Tuesday night.
He explained that the bureau's outreach to the private sector has shown 'there might be persons of interest in and around the area related to this event.'
Patel did not elaborate on who may be under suspicion, but said authorities were working to eliminate anyone who might not actually be involved, adding that the agency's first priority is finding Nancy and 'right behind that is to find any others involved in this kidnapping case to make sure they're brought to justice.'

If he was fleeing to Mexico it is almost certain her mom is dead. I hope I am wrong.
I would suspect a home invasion that went totally wrong and the lady is dead now, why did they recover blood in the entrance? Why do we not know whose blood it is? There was little sophistication to this invasion if it were such. Again I hope I am totally wrong.
The blood drops were IDed as to Nancy.
My theory is that the son-in-law conspired with the home invader to kidnap Nancy and extort the rich daughter Savannah. Her sister was in on it too.

It sounds like they’re pulling mobile phone records and questioning in drivers, hoping to find witnesses and/or dash cam videos that include a homeless-looking guy on a bicycle who matches the doorbell camera.
