Numerous Democratic leaders say their high-migration, low-wage sanctuary city economies are crashing because President Donald Trump is requiring them to comply with national labor laws.
“We are now expected to absorb the fiscal consequences of [federal] enforcement activities,” the treasurers of 16 states wrote to President Trump. “This is not acceptable.”

“We urge your administration to immediately scale back enforcement activities causing this harm and to ensure the economic stability our communities require,” the treasurers wrote.

That they did. I'm guessing that $15/hr minimum wage law is getting in the way of their landscaping projects.
I remember last year in a nearby jurisdiction when ICE was going to all the restaurants and checking on all their employees. A lot of people were really upset that their favorite restaurants would be going out of business.
That’s the same way people think Congress is terrible, but oh, not their guy who they’ve shaken hands with!
Maryland and especially Baltimore don’t want DC, and DC does not want Virginia. Are you aware that DC was once a square, but the part in Virginia was returned because they were upset when DC was going to abolish slave markets in ALL DC (bad for diplomacy). So the supporters of the slave market in what was formerly Virginia raised holly heck and got their chunk across the Potomac back. DC has too many blacks not to be upset about being part of that, and there are those in Virginia who really don’t want more blacks. So DC continues to prefer statehood, especially when they consider those 3 small states are represented and DC is not and has never been.
