Democratic State Leaders: Sanctuary Cities Must Be Exempted from Civil Rights Laws
Breitbart ^

Numerous Democratic leaders say their high-migration, low-wage sanctuary city economies are crashing because President Donald Trump is requiring them to comply with national labor laws.

“We are now expected to absorb the fiscal consequences of [federal] enforcement activities,” the treasurers of 16 states wrote to President Trump. “This is not acceptable.”

The treasurers of Massachusetts, New York, Illinois, Minnesota, and nine other states are asking the federal government to exempt them from national laws that protect Americans’ civil rights, labor, housing, and anti-fraud laws.

“We urge your administration to immediately scale back enforcement activities causing this harm and to ensure the economic stability our communities require,” the treasurers wrote.

Are they willing to also be exempt from any government funding? If they don’t want to live by the laws of the land, then they shouldn’t benefit from the largess of said land

This is insane. It’s like a spouse who runs up massive debt on credit cards, then expects the other spouse to be just fine with sacrificing long-term goals and short-term necessities to pay for it all.

Yep. Bush Sr’s pork rinds weren’t enough, so Harvard MBA W took the yahoo persona quite a bit further (came naturally to him). When that wasn’t enough, we got the whole Trump MAGA act (seems also to come naturally to him). When enough people have that figured out, I’m not sure how much further they can go.

LOL! Yeah, that’s how it’s supposed to work, numbnuts. Decades of cost-shifting your fairy tales onto the backs of Americans, unlawfully, needs to end.

“This sounds like the Babylon Bee.”

I admit it is hard to believe that a party supposedly representing American citizens wants to force their people back into sweat shops.

But if they lose labor laws that’s where it is going not to price themselves out of interstate trade and cost competitiveness.

This sort of thing always begs the question: Are they idiots, or do they just think WE are idiots?

I want Texas to be a sanctuary state, for federal taxes….. 😂😂

Nevada too! Where there is no state income tax, why should there be a federal tax?

“ Then Trump should find every silly national law that is a nuisance to an efficient economy and has no beneficial purpose and exempt everyone from it.”

Old truth: Best way to demonstrate an unjust law is to total enforcement.

“in effect repealing the many silly laws of the past.”

Do they ever repeal anything?

Off the top of my head I don't recall a single instance.

Perhaps the next Constitution should include a branch dedicated to repealing laws?

Then the leaders of sanctuary cities should agree their cities should not receive any state or federal funding.

They are on their own.

Reagan did the amnesty with agreement that a wall would be built and immigration laws enforced. Then Congress refused to fund either. Never again. Once was enough. Self deportation and get in line for legal immigration with some credit if the illegal alien has no other criminal record and never took advantage of welfare/benefits here.

Once was too many.

At about the 14:50 mark here, the chief pollster explains how raiding businesses and holding employers accountable for hiring illegals is now 40 points more popular than Trump is:

There absolutely was. And that party hasn’t changed their views towards minorities one iota in the 200-ish years t’s been in existence. They still believe they own minorities — LITERALLY! — and any minority who wanders off the plantation they view as stolen property.

Only the color of the hoods has changed.

Where states have no INCOME TAX, why should they receive funding from the federal government for any number of programs. The District of Columbia pays MORE in Federal IRS taxes than for its internal annual budget, and also has its own Income Tax. With a population of more than 3 less populous states which have a total of 6 Senators and 3 Representative, DC has 1 NonVoting Representative. They can’t even spend their own Income Tax money without Congressional permission. Where is the fairness in any of that?

In other words: We decided that federal immigration law doesn’t apply to us, so we want you to exempt us from a bunch of other laws, too.
