The Queens of the Stone Age frontman appears on a new episode of the podcast ‘Norah Jones Is Playing Along.’
Norah Jones and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age have shared a tender cover of Frank and Nancy Sinatra‘s “Somethin’ Stupid” for an upcoming podcast episode. On a new episode of Norah Jones Is Playing Along, the duo performed the cover of “Somethin’ Stupid,” written by C. Carson Parks and made famous by the father-daughter duet version. Homme’s appearance on the podcast will air February 10.
In the latest episode of Norah Jones is Playing Along, the two musical luminaries share insights and stories about their diverse careers and creative processes. Beyond the discussion, Jones and Homme step into the studio to perform a series of songs, including stripped-down renditions of several Queens of The Stone Age classics like “Kalopsia,” “Make It Wit Chu,” and the deep cut “This Lullaby.”
“Norah Jones is Playing Along” is distributed by iHeartPodcasts and is available on the iHeartRadio app and everywhere podcasts are heard. Each episode offers an intimate look inside the minds of artists as Norah chats about life, music, and the moments that inspire them—all while sharing duo performances of her guests’ songs, fan-favorite tracks from her own catalog, covers, and even songs written on the spot. New episodes air weekly on Tuesdays.
Previous guests include John Legend, Sarah McLachlan, Margo Price, Sam Smith, Lucinda Williams, Robert Glasper, Questlove, Dave Grohl, Laufey, and many more.
In 2024, Jones released an album titled Visions, out on Blue Note Records and produced by Leon Michels of El Michels Affair. The album won Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.
In 2025, Queens of the Stone Age released a concert film entitled Alive in the Catacombs. The film captures a performance recorded in July 2024 in the Paris Catacombs, and features the band performing stripped-down acoustic renditions of their songs alongside a three-piece string section.

He really sounds like Frank Sinatra.
LOL, it’s a far cry from Feel Good Hit Of The Summer.
A better version IMHO, and I notice Josh lifted the opening guitar from it.

Am I the only one who thought the Sinatra version was kind of creepy with a Father and Daughter singing it together?
I always thought it was odd. but figured Frank was singing to the “Cute Kid” his daughter would always be for him.
Dad’s and daughter singing Adult style duets happened frequently back then
. Another famous example was later on when Natalie Cole sang “Unforgettable” with her by then deceased father Nat. That was doubly creepy, him being dead and all. but the public loved it. It helped matters that Natalie was a gifted singer and performer in her own right, to the equal of her Dad. Cuteness had nothing to do with her appeal.
It's also billed as a duet, but it seems like she's just a background singer?
See #7.
Natalie Cole did a duet with her postmortem dad.
Post-mortem duets are really creepy.
It just turned out he had a sensational voice, and the public demanded it.
As great as his voice is, it's kind of sad, in a way, that it distracted from his true calling.
A nice, live rendition...I always wonder how many takes were required on recordings...Nancy Sinatra said two takes were required on the 1967 hit, because her dad was joking around on the first one.
I have ALWAYS loved this song. SiriusXM 40s Junction plays it frequently. A nice look at new love. Brings a tear. This is a good cover.
Nope....and just the name of the song was a big turn off for me.
I think it was an attempt by Frank to get his daughter involved in the music industry. She had a couple of other songs that were just ho hum...
That s a really crappy rendition. Here’s a Norah Jones that really works:

I first heard it back in the summer of 1968, when I was seven years old, and I liked it then. We were staying in a friends’ cabin up at Lake Tahoe, and it was August, I think. The air was thick with pine, and the lake then was gin-clear. Also heard that summer was ‘Mrs. Robinson’, which I also rather liked. The vacation was capped by a fly-by and wing wave by a young Air Force pilot from our hosting family; a fighter of some kind, I believe out of the Mather base in Sacramento.
Ronny Wood.
Nice.👍
No.👎
You've found the rare video footage of Josh Homme where he's not completely wasted.
Every time I seem to see the guy on YouTube, he's all pie-eyed and totally blitzed.
Anyhow, I was at this show a long, long time ago. 15th St Tavern (long ago shuttered, RIP) was a grimy, little dive bar in Denver with a max capacity of something like 180 people. Saw the White Stripes here as well.
