The mayhem started an hour before sunset on Tuesday as residents of the farming community were heading home from their fields, where they grow yams, maize and millet.

Amnesty International said many of the dead had been found with their hands and feet tied - some had had their throats slit, others had been shot dead.
When the jihadists left in the morning, they took with them 38 women and children, including the rest of the traditional ruler's family.

According to Amnesty, the jihadists had been leafleting the two villages for the last five months.
"These communities have been receiving these pamphlets, soliciting them to join the extremist views and preaching by these militants," Isa Sanusi, head of Amnesty International in Nigeria, told the BBC's Newsday programme.
"After they see a bit of resistance from the people, they then started sending them warnings," he added.
This correlates with Usman's account - that locals had received warnings days before the violence began.
Local MP Saidu Baba Ahmed told the BBC said the latest communication had been sent to Salihu, who had contacted the security forces about the letter.
The military went to the area briefly to investigate, but after they left, the jihadists launched their assault, he said.

We’re not racist enough.
He also gave His Son to save people of all races, languages, and nationalities.
The position you advocate proves that you think you are wiser and more righteous than God. In other words, you are incredibly arrogant and self-righteous. But you are every bit the sinner as the people of other races you hate.
All of these assertions are backed up by the Holy Scriptures, with which you are apparently unfamiliar. But you might want to acquaint yourself because they will be the standard by which you are eternally judged after this life.
That’s exactly why the White race is being genocided by subhuman savages. The ultimate fallback of using christianity and only that to live your life, instead of looking at 5-6% of the population that commits over half the violent crime in America alone. All the africans, saracens and pajeets that are invading all White nations around the world, with no end in sight, raping, killing and plundering freely with nobody wanting to stop it.
Racism is not going to fix that. Justice will.
But it is not justice to punish an entire race for the crimes committed by individuals who are members of that race.
It is also not justice to excuse crimes committed by individuals because they are members of a preferred race.
We must punish criminals, not classes. That’s justice.
Of course, it also helps to rid ourselves of the criminals dumped here by third-world countries.
But there are plenty of whites who are dragging this nation down. Millions of white liberals are a far bigger threat to this nation than all of the minorities combined. And many among the minorities align with my political views and not just Christianity. I’d rather have them on my team than white liberals any day.
