Moldovan president rejects Nobel Peace Prize nomination, says Ukrainian POWs deserve it instead

"Today, I was watching Ukrainian (prisoners of war) who returned home from Russia, and these are the people who deserve the Peace Prize," Moldovan President Maia Sandu said. Moldovan President Maia Sandu rejected a proposal to nominate her for the Nobel Peace Prize on Feb. 5, saying the honor belongs to Ukrainian prisoners of war and others who risk or give their lives for peace.

Sandu’s remarks came on the same day Ukraine secured the return of 157 prisoners of war from Russian captivity in its first exchange with Moscow in nearly five months.

“I am grateful that people are paying attention to our country and value our courage and resilience, but many people have been nominated for this prize,” Sandu told Moldovan broadcaster TV8.

“Today, I was watching Ukrainian (prisoners of war) who returned home from Russia, and these are the people who deserve the Peace Prize.”

. . .

Sandu said that the true heroes are those who sacrifice their lives or put themselves in danger for peace in their own countries, adding that she hopes peace will come to the region as soon as possible.

Moldova is another made-up country like Belarus and the Ukraine. Soon to be reunited with Romania.

I don’t know about that. There is such a thing as the Ukrainian language. And there is a Belarusian language. So I think it can be fairly argued that neither country is a made-up one.

Now, should each country exist as an independent nation? That’s a whole other subject.

Yes.
The usage of Ukrainian language is now rising.
After the Russian invasion, everybody n Ukraine started to speak Ukrainian.
That invasion really defined Ukraine as a nation!
However Belarusian language is now suppressed.
The dictator Lukashenko wants to get rid of it!

There is no such a language as Moldovan.
Just some minor dialect differences within Romanian.
Stalin wanted more land to grab, so he grabbed Moldova from Romania during WWII.

Which pretty much sped up the timeline for Operation Barbarossa, because Hitler could not allow Stalin to gain control of the Ploesti oil fields.

Russian and Ukrainian are only about 60% mutually comprehensible.

Belarussian and Russian are about 75% mutually comprehensible.

Moldovan and Romanian are 99% mutually comprehensible.

Moldova is a chunk of Romania grabbed by the USSR in 1944.

Just like Northern Macedonia is really a chunk of Bulgaria
