Savannah Guthrie’s mom’s disappearance now being investigated as crime: ‘She did not leave on her own’

The mysterious disappearance of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie’s mother is being investigated as a crime, authorities said Monday — citing “suspicious” circumstances at the 84-year-old woman’s home.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen around 9:45 p.m. Saturday at her million-dollar residence in the Catalina Foothills area near Tucson, where officials found a “very concerning” scene, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said at a press conference.

“We know she didn’t just walk out of there. She did not leave on her own,” Nanos said.

She is very limited in her mobility,” he said — explaining the grandma “could not walk 50 yards on her own.

“We believe now, after we process that crime scene, that we do, in fact, have a crime scene, that we do, in fact, have a crime, and we’re asking the community’s help,” Nanos said.

Authorities have been searching for the elderly matriarch since she was reported missing by her family late Sunday morning.

I hope it ends with her safe return.

Just imagine if it turns out that it was an illegal alien that did her harm in some way.

Did Savanah do her mom in like Meathead’s son did?

I read somewhere that the Catalina Foothills are considered the Beverly Hills of Tuscon.

Hard to believe that there is not a wealth of security footage and possibly flock cameras in the area.

Ironically, I’ve been watching Desert Law on ID and it’s all about Tuscon and Pima County.

From what I could tell the police were pretty update and fairly well trained.

I hope and pray she is found quickly and unharmed. Too many dangerous thugs wandering around these days.

“She did not leave on her own,”

What an odd way to say that.

Does this mean someone forced her out? Does it mean that someone carried her out? Does it mean that she simply walked out with another person?

I imagine they have video all over that place. I heard it was a gated community. That would suggest a lot more security than the average residential area.

This does not sound good for the mom.

My guess is some people came to rob the place, saw the old lady, saw pics on the wall of Savannah and said to her “Hey are you related to that chick on the Today show” and figured, CHA CHING, easy money, Im expecting a ransom demand eventually

A friend’s elderly mother, who appears generally OK for her age (remembers faces, names, has decent short-term memory), has a form of dementia where she gets lost easily. Even in her own yard

She was visiting her daughter (my friend’s sister) and while unwatched for 5-10 minutes, wandered away from the house.

They found her 5 miles away, in a Home Depot parking lot. One Good Samaritan saw her, saw her confusion, and knew something wasn’t right

My late wife’s parents lived in Catalina, AZ before they died. It was a nice area, but I’d hardly call it a “Beverly Hills”

Listened to the police briefing, it seems there is evidence in the home indicating foul play. They would not say what it is, but must be significant. When asked about blood he said nothing about the crime scene can be released at this time. Also, she is dependent on a certain medication that if she doesn’t have can be fatal within 24 hrs, wouldn’t give that info either.

I've read that at any given time about 1/2 of residential camera systems are not functioning. Homeowners simply forget to turn them on.

Catalina and the Catalina Foothills are two different places. Catalina is a town north of Tucson. The Catalina Foothills are really just the north side of Tucson, in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains.

It likely is an inside job of some kind. The sheriff talked in that briefing about how rare it is that they’d be out there.

The Catalina Foothills of Tucson is a very nice, affluent neighborhood.

May Savannah Guthrie’s mom be returned safely!

Probably her purse, phone, car there and evidence of a struggle? Appointment she never misses and she failed to show?
