YouTube ^ | 1/27/2026 | MusicOfOurTime

From the UK government game "Pathways", a game attempting to teach young Brits against "far right extremism", a purple-haired character named "Amelia" has been coopted as an AI character that has rebelled against the narrative, becoming a symbol of patriotism.

They didn't see this coming :) And she can't be cancelled!

I love the irony! They thought it would show how bad conservative thinking is but it reminded Brits of what they used to believe!

It's the Pathways game that backfired. AI Amelia is what has become viral on social media.

In the game (Pathways), associating with Amelia and her friends gets you ostracized, punished, visited by the police, sent to a psychiatrist, placed on probation at your school, in trouble at home, etc. The game tries to convince young minds that embracing conservative values will ruin your life, disappoint your parents and possibly land you in prison.

Exactly. This is like “British Punk” in reverse. The UK became so “preachy” about “far right” extremism, it was just BEGGING for a meme.

Freedom will find a way. The UK isn’t done yet.

Alinsky rules 5 and 6. Our side is finally learning how to play the game:
“Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. There is no defense. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage.”
“A good tactic is one your people enjoy.”

AI-generated character “Amelia” from a Brit govt-backed educational game has backfired significantly.

Developed by Hull City Council as part of the “Pathways” project to educate young people against far-right radicalization, the character was intended to be a negative influence.

Instead, she has become a viral meme and a “cute goth girl” mascot for the far-right and anti-immigration social media users, effectively co-opting the character to promote the very, or similar, viewpoints the game aimed to combat.

Key Aspects of the Backfire:

Co-opted as a Mascot: Far-right users have embraced Amelia, creating AI-generated images of her in various scenarios to spread, racist, anti-immigration, and nationalist messaging.

Ridicule and Parody: The game itself has been criticized as clumsy, tone deaf, and “propaganda,” leading to widespread mockery from various sides of the political spectrum.

Failed Objective: Rather than preventing radicalization, critics argue the game’s rigid, anti-immigration-focused plot has made it easy for its intended target audience to subvert and turn into a joke.

Unexpected Popularity: The character’s design (goth girl) and the “forbidden” nature of her role have led to her popularity, with some users even creating fan art and memes, separating her from the original, intended, negative context.

The creator of the project, while defending the initiative, has expressed surprise at the speed and sophistication of the, in their view, “highly sophisticated coordination of those who profit from hate” in using the character for, in their view, “subversive” purposes.
